Getting money out of Santander RS with no 123 current

I have switched my 123 current to Natwest.

I now have a 5% RS sitting there on its own not due to mature until early next year.

Although I can't make further contributions, I am leaving it so that I get the 5% on the balance on maturity.

Previously these accounts have reverted to a standard savings account and I have been able to transfer the balance to the 123 current and then withdraw.

I can see no way to get the money out of a savings account without the current.

Any ideas on how the money is accessed on maturity for a stand alone savings account?

Thanks

  • I also closed my 123 account but if you go online you can open a Santander Everyday Current Account. You do not need any direct debits, no monthly fee or minimum payment is necessary it is just a standard current account. Check it out because I think this will help you in your situation.

Just looked at my Santander online account and it is possible to set up outgoing faster payments from an everyday saver account.

You can open a 123 lite to receive your maturing RS. And get the now 3% on a new one.
Make sure you don't pay ever in the £500 pm and you don't get charged the usual £1 fee.. and you don't need DDs but you don't qualify for the cashback.

Thanks, did wonder about that but 3% RS not really better than 1.5% Marcus - but I suppose it would leave another current to use for a transfer deal later on.

I think you'll find it is, though I fully understand why you may think it isn't.

It is the other way around. You can pay in as much as you like, but must not set up any DD's
