Electricity meter reading

Hi there!
So, I’m new to this whole ‘energy bill’ lark as have lived in university halls for the last 4 years, and have got a smart meter in my flat - I have never seen one before.
I switched energy suppliers from EON to Spark energy (I have since learned that Spark was a bad choice according to many people, but at the time it was the cheapest supplier with fixed prices).
I have seen that the energy reading supplied to Spark by EON was around the 4300kWh mark, and am predicted to use 1900kwH per year (my flat is electric only) - which is fine, I’m away for a number weeks next year and have calculated that I can use up to 8kWh per day which I easily stay below even with the heating on.
However I checked my smart meter today and the meter reading is lower than the 4300kWh provided to Spark by EON.... the switch was made on the 17th November and that’s when the readings were provided.
What do I do? Is my smart meter not working properly? My smart meter works fine in terms of telling me my daily usage - both in pence and kWh. Am I going to ultimately get screwed over somehow? Or do I have an extra couple of hundred kWh to play with?
I stupidly did not record what the smart meter reading was on the day the switch occurred, as I did not know how to read the meter... I feel I have shot myself in the foot but don’t know what to do. Customer services weren’t very helpful today when I had a question about providing my meter reading (turns out they can do it themselves via my smart energy meter and I don’t have to supply any information myself? But wasn’t explained overly well and they seemed extremely unhappy about explaining anything else I wanted to ask about) so am reluctant to call them in case they try to charge me anything. Do I report that my smart meter is showing a lower reading than they have on my account?! Do I leave it? Please help!
I hope this makes sense!!!
Thanks in advance,
Sophie

First of all you've posted in a sub board where your post won't be seen. Try posting again in the main energy forum.
Secondly Spark have just gone bust, out of business.

Sbennett95 - you're not the first person to post in the wrong place. Hopefully one of the MSE Mods will move it.
The industry accepts that there can be a difference of up to 250 kwh and the switching process will continue.
What does your meter read ? B meter I mean the one in the communal area not the In House Display in your kitchen.
It's worth while checking that that what you think is your meter is actually yours. Compare the serial numbers on the bill with the ones on the meter and switch off the consumer unit by the meter and see if the electric in your flat goes off.
I'm a bit worried with the forecast of 1900 kwh a year - even with your lifestyle that does sound low. Get into the habit of reading that meter and keep your own records as well as giving your supplier the readings. When you get a bill check it carefully and see if your are building up a credit or a debit.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
