Thinking of using my clubcard vouchers to part pay for a new car from Motorpoint. Has anyone done this yet? Or just bought from Motorpoint even? Be good to have some kind of recommendation.

I bought a 6 month old ford ka from motorpoint in Newport in November, been really pleased with it. No hard sell, you can test drive a few before you buy, they can order you a car from a different site (which is what I did) if they don't have the one you want on site.0

Thanks that's useful! Hubby really wants a fiat panda for commuting but they have none at the moment. They do have a couple of punto's which look really interesting. He currently has a poor worn out punto and would be happy with a new one but thought a panda may be even better for his daily commute.
When the next lot of vouchers come in I'll have around £1,500 to put towards it so that will certainly help.
Thanks again, glad you are pleased with your new brum brum!:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
I picked up a car a couple of weeks ago from Motorpoint in Newport. Really pleased with the car. I presented the vouchers on the day and they refused them because I hadn't told them before. Things got very heated, but they accepted that there was nothing in the rules which stopped me using them. They said that the vouchers aren't valid if you picked the car up more than 5 days after ordering, but there is a clause which says 'unless the car is being tranferred between sites', which my car was. So after some hassle, they relucantly accepted them. If they refuse, check the rules (make sure you keep within them) and stick to your guns.
When I placed the order they did a hard sell for some of the extras (I think this is where they make their money). Check the web because gap insurance etc is a lot cheaper elsewhere, if you think you need it.
When I ordered the car they invoiced me for HPI check, valet and new numberplates (I can't remember the cost but around £80). Note that this is an OPTIONAL charge which you can decline. I called them and asked them to remove the charge and when I picked up the car it was still shiny, clean and had Europlates. For info, the HPI check is £5 off RAC or similar.
The car comes with 20 miles of fuel in it, so the first job is to fill it up.
Overall, very smooth, very easy, a little bit of hassle (but if you mention the vouchers on the phone you should have no problem), great car, and an experience I would have no problem doing again. Oh.... and I got a good car at a great price.0 -
Some friendly advice to anyone thinking of converting cc vouchers into Motorpoint Deals Tokens - DO IT NOW.
We went to Peterborough today to check out the car we are buying for DS. We were discussing the deals tokens with the salesman. He told us that Motorpoint had invisiged customers coming in with maybe £200 or £300 in tokens to put towards a car. They certainly had not expected people paying anything from 75% to 100% in tokens. He told us that Motorpoint will be coming out of deals as soon as their contract expires. Someone else on PTS was told exactly the same thing.0 -

I have just got back from Peterborough, having collected DS's new Corsa. It is lovely. It was so easy. We checked over the car, signed the paperwork, handed over the Clubcard vouchers, and drove the car away. The vouchers were checked in about a minute.
I spoke to the guy about Clubcard and he told me because Motorpoint had lost so much money, they are coming out of the scheme in December. I am not suggesting you take this as gospel, but if you are thinking about getting a car from the, call them yourselves and find out. Better to knock off what you can off the purchase price, than nothing at all.0 -
I'm gutted, I have just started saving for my next car. Missed the boat again......I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100

Motorpoint have now left clubcard deals. According to someone over on PTS, existing vouchers can be used, but no more can be converted.0
