I need to catch up - really catch up but can I ask a quick question?
I used to love GreyQueen's posts but don't see any recent ones - has she changed her name?

I'm kind of getting that way, especially after some of the drama on here, earlier in the year.
Now, things are getting interesting here. The floods and resulting washout of part of our national highway system in BC is starting to be felt in my province. Nearly all of our produce is/was shipped through Vancouver. Many of the large industrial bakers are out there as well. Luckily, we don't really go through much bread and I still have yeast and a bread machine. It's the fresh stuff that is more worrying.
Before anyone starts the Climate Change argument, one of the worst hit areas is built on a flood plain and it's the third time in my memory that it has flooded badly. You can't just drain a lake and swamp, convert it to farm land and build a city there. The pumping station failed. Our government is busy taxing us with carbon taxes but hasn't invested any of the money in infrastructure in those areas. You can't build highway bridges over culverts with a history of flooding about every 40 years and not expect problems.16 -

Grey Queen wrote a lovely post to me about cats and other things earlier this year, Considering she'd had a long recovery from surgery was back at work where they'd lost a dear friend and was in the middle of a pandemic I thought it was very kind of her to take the time to do so.I must admit I started posting less a while back when things became a bit domineering. We all prep in our own way and being dictated to isn't helpful or encouraging to newbies. I still remember Martins Be kind to all moneysavers mantra.Hope all is well GQ family and Wild Thing. Also WC and all who post.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.15 -
I probably spend about 25 ..30 pound a week on shopping but at least 10% of that is extra prep stuff...thankfully no side effects from Friday's booster...yea i hope GQ is ok ..always a wealth of knowledge delivered in an easy...you all take care11

One son is heading out to BC to build temporary bridges. The other will be home next week.
Take care.12 -
I'm the same as others, stopped posting regularly ages ago, I limit myself to the odd post these days, I still see fairly dictatorial posts that put me off posting regularly again, though I still keep up with things on here, just in case.
I hope all's well, wondercollie - I don't do discussions about causes of things online, especially on here, but Vancouver is very close to my heart, and I'm horrified to read of what's happening.
Also sending GQ all the positive vibes.2023: the year I get to buy a car13 -
Sending my love to you GQ - I remember our discussions in the early days of the forum when I was more active and life did not get in the way of my online activities. I am trying to get back into the habit of reading daily instead of having to spend ages catching up and then hopefully start posting a bit more often. Prepping has always been my thing as you could say so this thread is the one I love most although all OS threads are so enjoyable and informative to me.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
