We had this jk0, changed the yeast and no better.  Changed the flour for fresh / recent stuff and it was far better.

Def time to start studying how we shopped and ate in years gone by when people were poorer but also more careful!

I'm not sure this is desirable or even possible now. If food prices are increasing (which I am sure they are) we need to shop and eat in a way that supports women working outside the home and makes the best use of modern technology to prevent waste.

Food prices may be rising but as a % of household income they are much lower then they were in the 60s ,50s ,40s etc 

Could you point me in the direction of that data as I can't easily locate it?

As I said it was the first of many reports  that confirm the same thing
I was born in 1960 ,my mum in 1931 
So am well aware of how she struggled to provide food and pay bills .We didn't have a car we only had a couple of holidays and that was staying with my grandparents 
And we weren't the only ones in that position

Monday is my mother's birthday, she was born 106 years ago, in 1916.. She had me later in life but I'm 71. No wonder I feel like the world is changing far too much now   I'm a museum piece!

Ming My mother was born in 1904, again she had me later in life but I'm older than you.

oof!  You children!  My parents were born in 1914, had me in their early twenties and I am horrified to work out that they would be 107 had they not decided that they had seen enough of me.  True Dad put up with me until 10 years ago, but Mum threw in the towel much earluer.

The lesson here is....when you are planning your family make sure that you factor in how many years you are going to have to put up with them.  

Prepare wisely.

ETA.  Ming, if you are a museum piece I am a fossil.

I am a yr older ,my parents were born in 1918 and 1919  and me the elder in 1949

Ming maths isn’t my strong point,but surely if she was born in 1916 ,then Mum would have been 105 
or did I do a Rip Van Winkle last night

My mum was born in 1916 and dad in 1918 - they got married in 1946 and waited 4 years for me to come along.

My mind must've been wandering - either that or my arithmetic is worse than even I thought! LOL
