cbsexec, jcriyadh Ok dish the dirt how close to me do you two actually live? Obviously Llanarth is just up the road from me and it seems we have a lurker that is also close by! It would be nice to know a bit about you two as we have the similar mind set and interests.
The police have decided, in their infinite wisdom, to do b*gger all about the biker hitting my dog. He came in, lied, had his mate lie for him and didn't even get a warning:'( .My insurance company is getting his details and I well name and shame him on FB as the law seems to regard him as not worth pursuing.
As for my veg plants I am with everyone on here. The only things in my garden are a few potatoes, and a few rows of beetroot, carrot and spring onion. Everything else is either sheltered in the polytunnel or indoors as it is so chilly at night. Fingers crossed the temperature picks up soon.

Elaine, I'm so sorry that you lost Jess in such an awful way, and that the police seem unwilling to do anything. I hope you do get some justice, one way or another.
I've only got potatoes in the bags outside so far. We've had hail, snow, thunder and lightning today!2025 Fashion on the ration

The weather is horrid at the moment. Needed some rain, but as always with our weather it's all or nothing! Lol
Our car broke down on us again on Monday. Another injector. The car is getting too expensive to keep repairing so often, so we're now looking at getting a new car (well, new to us). And daughter caught another cold, which she shared with us but one of my tonsils is now swollen and covered in white spots, so will have to contact GP this morning.
DH has his vaccine booked for next week, but I am still waiting. The bookings page has been stalled at 40+ for the last week. Hopefully it will drop again soon.
Elaine, sorry to hear that the police are unwilling to help. Incredibly frustrating!

In between potting on & wondering if I take cuttings despite the weather or just to try to keep something going, I read that instead of the hormone rooting powder, you can use cinnamon with the same if not better effect, and at much less harm, to bystanders, wallet etc. Can anyone vouch for this, or is it internet myth?!11

Ooh, that's an interesting idea; I'd never heard it but it's certainly worth a try!
Just back from the market, where I caved in & bought a tray of runner bean seedlings as germination here has been terrible; two out of twenty in the greenhouse so far, and I daren't bring them indoors for some warmth because as soon as the compost warms up, the little compost flies hatch out & lay more eggs... apparently it's just about universal this year, the professional growers were telling me. Poor quality compost (cheap or expensive) & horrid little larvae eating the seedlings as soon as they try to sprout. It's a relief to know it's not just us, but also a worry...Angie - GC Aug25: £478.51/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)13 -
We've just planted out runner beans in the sheltered back garden to grow up over the 'rose arch' over the back gate. They did very well last year and gave us pounds of beans but it's too cold here as yet to plant out on the allotments although the young plants are big enough to go out they'll have to stay in the greenhouse or on the staging beside it until this peculiar weather warms itself up and decides to actually be spring this year. I wonder if the late start will mean an extended cropping period at the end of the autumn?11

Still too cold up here too, boazu. I have loads of peas growing in toilet roll tubes but daren't put them out yet. Good to 'see' you!2025 Fashion on the ration

I assessed the greenhouse situation this afternoon and promptly turned around and went back in for coffee deciding today was not the day.
Tomatoes and cucumbers are ready to transplant into their final pots. X2 different kale which are looking average and just about hanging in there need transplanting, broccoli and beetroot are ready for transplanting to next sized pots. Purple beans are doing well and big enough to plant out but it's to cold. Out of 24 runner beans 1 germinated the rest have gone mouldy, I will be starting again with those. 3 out of 6 pumpkins germinated. It all needs an overhaul and lots more sowing. The storm has destroyed the rhubarb and my very small sparse spring onions seems to be the cats favourite place to roll in the garden I caught her doing it the other day!!
My Dad passed away a few days ago.15
