In all seriousness, now that the pubs have started to reopen, and there are a dozen kids on bikes outside my house, I did notice how reassured I felt to have renewed all the fencing at the front of the house.2023: the year I get to buy a car13

This last year has given us all a new perspective on a lot of things has it not? Living through interesting times!

So true, so true, I'm afraid. Something you said, Ming, about not pushing with the veg growing now that you've moved to the village, really spoke to me. I've decided not to push with the tiny seeds, I won't try to grow them as plants, I'm just really bad at it, and I don't want to keep trying any more. So, two actions:
- I'll sprout the seeds I've got, I *am* good enough at doing that.
- I'll have one more go at larger seeds, as I've just mentioned on my diary - courgettes come to mind.
- I'm going to a big garden centre about 8 miles away, courtesy of my sister driving me there on Tuesday, and I'm going to buy maybe a dozen perennials - more chives, another sage (mine is too potbound, it looks terrible, and very sparse), some mint for the isolated front border, things like that.2023: the year I get to buy a car14 -
Yep,I thought I just haven't the room any more to do what I used to, so why waste time trying. Adapt to new circs and work around things. I am going to do a mini herb garden in a large pot though, I think herbs can never go wrong.

Absolutely, that's what I'm aiming at, that and soft fruit. And my bed, which is calling me right now. Nighty night2023: the year I get to buy a car15

Chainsaws. Hmph. Been on my husband's to buy one day list until two years ago. Our eldest son is a Combat Engineer and has access to all sorts of power tools to back hoes.
Anyhoos, someone in the neighbourhood was having a yardsale and guess what? Yup, they were getting rid of a chain saw. My sons were on their way to the bottle depot(all our drinks in bottles and cartons have deposits that you claim back) and saw the chain saw. They were short of cash and got the chain saw for $6.15 and a bag of beer cans. I think that maybe the ultimate recycling story.
Their Father is happy. Only problem is the saw can't be located this year. We think the ex wife of the oldest took it with her when she left.14 -
Nargleblast said:Alternatively, Ivyleaf, give it away. I know a certain lady in Scotland who might find it useful.I was hoping to catch up on posts I've missed but too tired. I have noticed this though. No, No No naughty Nargle. The mind boggles what the Ming would do with a chainsaw. The only useful thing I can think of is to go for Indy.I've kept my reddish blond hair but one of these days I'll probably wake up pure white. We should be reforming her rather than giving her ideas.pollyx
It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.15 -
I'll have you know that a chainsaw is a very handy item to have around the home, you can use them for all sorts of jobs. Like cutting up large portions of meat for the freezer.Or gardening. Certain kinds of gardening.17
