How long will the Brexit supply problems last? Possibly until the French have forgiven us for the Napoleonic Wars... Seriously, I suspect Brexit is only part of the problem, Covid being a major factor too. New rules to work out, half the staff off sick or isolating, everyone on both sides of the Channel trying to work out what's what whilst trying not to catch anything; it's surprising it's not complete chaos.Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)17

It is surprising TW, they've had four full years to get the paperwork sorted and they did nothing. The paperwork is the problem.

Confirmation this morning on the village news site that the GP practise has been giving the over 80's vaccinations for a week in the afternoons, we did wonder if that was the case on seeing queues at the back of the building when we've walked past on our daily exercise walks after lunch. We'll be in the pipeline some time in the future but it's a nice thing to know the vaccination programme has begun here, a little ray of hope for a less daunting future although back to 'normal' isn't going to happen ay time soon. Enough though to lessen the apprehension in life just a bit and feel a little less insecure when out and about. No lessening of precautions though and masks and distancing will still be a need.13

Brrr... I feel sorry for anyone in their 80s out queuing in the January cold, even though it is for a very good reason. I saw an interview with one lady the other day - it was their first time out since March.

thriftwizard said:Hoping for a much better year from the apples - after a spectacular crop in 2019, we had about 10 fruits last year - but the old tree, threatened with a TPO by the council, is believed to be over 100 years old and may have Gone Beyond; we won't know for some months. Luckily we have 3 younger trees and a couple of crab apples and two quinces too. It's not a big garden but we make it work hard! The way apple trees that produce a bumper crop one year and very little the next year is known as biennial bearing. The solution is in the bumper year to remove a lot of the fruit very early, soon after it has formed, or better still thin fruit buds before they form fruit.

I think quite a few people kicked off about this, thankfully someone saw sense and organised a marquee with heaters for them to wait in (and apparently had music as well).2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

I think quite a few people kicked off about this, thankfully someone saw sense and organised a marquee with heaters for them to wait in (and apparently had music as well).Youngest (extremely clinically vulnerable) and myself 72 with health issues are to be vaccinated together at the local centre for health and wellbeing .She's had many appts there for physio and other things and they have always run a very tight ship where protecting those immunosupressed is concerned. They have lots of space so hopefully will set aside safe space inside for both waiting and sitting for a while afterwards.I'm still trying to find out which vaccine/s are on offer. Neither of us can have the Pfizer as we are classed as an Atopic family and dd in particular has had severe reactions to certain things in the past. All NHS staff are to be vaccinated so although her boyfriend has been working from home since the beginning of March he has been asked to do 20+ mile each way journey by train and bus to get his shot at work. He's looking into getting a paid for vaccine at the local pharmacy instead. The three of us have stuck to the rules to protect youngestourselves and everyone else since our GP rang near the end of february to cancel dds prebooked fortnighly face to face appt, switch to virtual appts, arrange for the nurse to do asthma , blood and other checks with full ppe and order dd to stay in apart from the quiet garden. Later she was allowed a tiny walk round the block when it was very quiet but there haven't been many of those, everything has been flaring and consultants appts have been pushed forward over a year so far.The area her bf would normally be working from is up at the top of the NW region for the R number so to go there is very risky. He's not hoping to jump queues by paying but to comply with sheilding guidelines.Just hoping the trust he works for agree.pollyx

There but for fortune go you and I.14 -
