I thought certain we were in for a big thunderstorm earlier. Sun shining in through one window, black clouds the other, and rumbling in the distance, but it never came to anything.
Strawbs doing well. The overbearing variety are delicious!! And still fruiting. The june bearing variety are watery, so disappointing. First raspberry was ready this morning. DD assures me it was delicious! Haha
Oh, and the surgical mask type elastic I ordered from amazon has arrived, and it IS the same as the elastic used on the disposable surgical masks. So please to try that out.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,12012 -

My mother had a friend who had a damson tree but no use for the damsons so he used to give her the fruit and she would make various things including jam some of which she gave to him.
Both benefitted as did I as I got some of the jam as well, and damson crumbles when I visited my mother. (By the way using oats for crumble leaves more hard-to-come-by flour for other things).
What's the situation with fallers on the pavement? I once came across an apple tree on the edge of someone's garden which was the same variety as my favourite childhood tree (Beauty of Bath) in my grandparents' garden. I rather guiltily scooped up about a dozen but still have no idea whether I was right to feel guilty or whether it was completely ok.14 -

As long as where you're standing is a public space, you don't reach in over the boundary and you don't damage the tree, it's all yours.Up to 5 years ago, we got loads of damsons from some trees which overhung a footpath near us. Then one day this irate woman approached foaming at the mouth, saying the trees were hers and we should stop picking. She then came out with "I know you're within your rights, but it's not right".Still thinking about that one, but alas the trees are no more: she cut them down later that year. That's why we got ours ...

My elderly neighbour had a damson tree that he used to let me pick but after he died the land was developed for another house and it got taken out, such a shame. I havnt got room for another fruit tree as I've already planted plum, applle, pear and peach over the years. I once drove down a country lane when my boys were small and a lorry had gone round a bend shedding part of its load of beautiful cooking apples, cue me skidding to a halt and picking them up as fast as I could! Another lady stopped when she saw me and did the same - best fly tipping ever!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle14

Insert image isn't working for me. A little square appears on the screen and even that doesn't show when posted.
