I think that it is a certainty that there will be a second wave of Covid-19.
Reports in the news today is that scientists have described the use of Dexamethasone as a "major breakthrough". Results from the Recovery trial show the common steroid drug reduced death rates by a third for patients on ventilators, and by a fifth for patients needing oxygen.
I would have thought that this would have been obvious seeing as steroids usually Prednisolone have been used for donkey's years to treat lung disease.
I have a COPD emergency kit that includes steroids and antibiotics in case I have any problems and the Respiratory team at the hospital phoned me three weeks ago and sent me another kit plus extra inhalers just in case I might need them, Chemists have been rationing inhalers to one a month and I have three different inhalers even if they are prescribed by your GP or the hospital they are still being rationed...........
I was going through my junk room yesterday and found my second pandemic boxin it was 4 big bottles of hand sanitiser, lots of decorators masks, 4 boxes of gloves, 4 toofy peg temporary fillings and OTC meds, which is great because I have just come to the end of the first one.
I have always added these things to by SHTF stocks, and a good job too!

It is much easier to add photos now, but I have resisted otherwise I could easily end up filling the forum with countless photos of the veg I'm growing! 😂😂
I thought certain we were in for a big thunderstorm earlier. Sun shining in through one window, black clouds the other, and rumbling in the distance, but it never came to anything.
Strawbs doing well. The overbearing variety are delicious!! And still fruiting. The june bearing variety are watery, so disappointing. First raspberry was ready this morning. DD assures me it was delicious! Haha
Oh, and the surgical mask type elastic I ordered from amazon has arrived, and it IS the same as the elastic used on the disposable surgical masks. So please to try that out.February wins: Theatre tickets14 -
I have pot and pots of hope. A hedge with threads of green currants amongst the green leaves. It's just that tree I want to see settling in & thriving.14

I wouldn't describe myself as a prepper but maybe I am ? As a Remainer, living in Kent, I was concerned about getting food etc, even before Brexit this year. I bought loo rolls in bulk online and 5L containers of distilled malt vinegar, washing up liquid, bicarbonate of soda, fabric conditioner, kitchen sanitizer and washroom cleaner. When there was a shortage of soap, I bought cheap soap from foreign delis. I scored African, Russian, Australian and Peruvian. Also bought another freezer and butter, hard cheeses, meat, poultry, sausages, offal, game, fish, seafood, Halloumi fries, frozen peas and gluten free bread. We're eating out of freezer and cuboards now and topping up.

Yup, the second wave in autumn is a given. We are seeing a spike locally and it's being attributed to the BLM rally's that have been held. Most wore masks as well, so that's an interesting titbit.
WonderCollie hasn't been doing well with the thunderstorms over the last few days. He's forgotten how to climb stairs and it's a challenge carrying a 70 lb dog up them as 0200. At least we're not in Calgary, they've declared themselves an emergency zone after the last one. It tore the siding off houses, flooded streets, and destroyed cars.
At school, I was always taught that if you waterbath your canning jars and the seals hold, you're golden. Be it veg or fish. A lot of people can/bottle their own salmon and trout. Number one son smokes all the fish he catches.
Just back from the garden centre and there were only pear trees to be had (they were on two for one to get rid of them) and I wanted a plum to replace the one that died of old age. Whatever we buy has to be good to -40C, so the choice can be limited.
It was interesting watching the mask wearers, somehow they think if their noses are exposed they will be fine.

@wondercollie - I'm sure it's too soon for a spike to be blamed on BLM protests. I suspect we'll be seeing increases (and spread) due to everyone rushing to the beaches, but they'll probably be blamed on the protests (and like you, I've noticed that all the photos and video footage show most people wearing masks - which they definitely haven't been doing on the beach! In some ways bad weather would be a good thing - or at least dull and rainy - but as I'm being good and staying at home I'm enjoying the nice weather, even if only from the confines of mine or my brother's garden!

Today's tally waiting to be collected by a couple of local allotment holders.
Mrs SD - if you go advanced and hover over the links, the one that looks a bit like a mountain is "attach image." Then you just have to add it from your laptop or phone - no bothering with photo hosting sites any more.
I've organised my card drawer - not got rid of much but had some clear envelopes so I've separated cards into birthday/blank/occasions etc. Hopefully will make it easier to check what I've got instead of giving up at the thought of ploughing my way through, and going out and buying yet more instead.
I am more pleased today with my mental decluttering - finally got the excel spreadsheet set up and running to track spending over the year. And found a direct debit that I failed to notice stopped last summer - need to check what's doing on and why it's not being paid. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.14
