Lad had a panicky moment with car today - enough to hear the car try to start, not enough to manage. Called mate who’s dad runs a garage & got reassured/told bump start it.So, I had to heave the car (I do love power steering as life without it is effortful!) round the corner & freewheel down the hill until things lit up & I realised time to lift the clutch. Son, hurtling after me, called reassurance to a mature lady that we weren’t stealing it (think she’d figured - I had an ‘oh thank heavens no oncoming traffic’ expression writ Large) & we got the shopping. Phew!Last I tried this, it didn’t work as the battery was stone flat & I was terrified. This time I figured we had nothing to lose, & lo! Rolling in 2nd, clutch flat, downhill til the lights go on then clutch up (hence the ‘bump’) & hurrah. There are jump leads somewhere but we only have one car at the minute.15

Trying to sort out preps for winter as I’m shielding still now and expecting a 2nd wave or bad winter flu season I don’t think I’ll be out much.
Every online shop I am adding either paracetamol, cold and flu tablets or calpol to so I can keep the stock up on the medicines.
Tinned and dried goods I’m adding a bit extra to my shopping as normal but it’s hard and more expensive as I’ve had to switch to online shopping so is much more expensive than the usual Ald! Or L!dl shop we had been doing.
I’m unsure as to what else I can do as we are using so much food already, with all of us currently at home it’s hard to keep replenishing the stock.

I was very lucky as mine was brought forward 3 months, so happened in January when it should have been in March. I grumbled at the time, but am now extremely grateful. Make sure you're well stocked up for when it does eventually happen...
Thanks hun, I'm glad you got yours done before this madness started. My op would have been by the end of July at the very latest, now it's all up in the air. I will jump whenever they are up for doing it, hopefully get it done between phrases one and two of the pandemic. What can one do, other than keep on keeping on?
It's all planned, I will be discharged from the horsepickle into my parents' keeping. I will be out for the count for a couple of months at least. Because I knew this was coming in 2020, I made made no plans for anything. I live alone and am working from home, so self-isolation is tedious but manageable. My mother is due to have an outpatient clinic procedure later this month and will have to self-isolate for two weeks prior, and be tested for Covid 5 days prior, so I am expecting no less for me.
Got to make every effort to keep patients and hospital staff free from the pandemic.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Got a message the other day from a lady who couldn't picture what bottled rhubarb would look like, so in case there's anyone else wondering ...That's about 7lb of the finest rhubarb ever AFAIC - Brandy Carr Scarlet - straight out of the water bath an hour ago. We're all doomed18

Chippings arrived today to finish off my raised beds built by my youngest son. Will let the turf break down over winter and plant in spring.14

It's still trade only round here, the liner is going down, it's just waiting for the chippings for us to finish off the side garden.
It look's nice missychrissy, and the planter's look very sturdy and a nice height to work at.

Awesome example of old-style money-saving going on here right now. My Lady Wife is currently in the sewing room darning a floorcloth ...
