Brilliant, Jojo! A most impressive lapine extraction & yar boo sucks stingy Governors.
Eyeing the cs finds thread, if you were looking for natty garb on a budget, ruthless & repeated raiding of charity shops appears to net some eyewateringly affordable finds.
How you are going to persuade your lad that the lapine production is no longer your sole responsibility may be more challenging than assembling the wardrobe.0 -
Congratulations JoJo! Definitely one in the eye for them
It won't be long now before I'm back in charge of my garden - I keep finding bramble roots in unexpected places, and it means much more digging than I thought. And I'm now at the stage of needing to cut back things that I was supposed to harvest but never did because of the digging taking priority, and lack of energy otherwise. But they're perennials, which is the whole point, so they'll grow back. Part of me wanted to do some planting today, but with the temperatures expected, I don't think I want to do that till the weekend.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
:j Oh very well done, JoJo, what a very very satisfying outcome and ya boo sucks to the governors.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

We have thunderstorms forecast & warnings of possible power cuts.
I’ll be putting a candle & matches on the bannister where I can get to them by touch.
If I end up eating camping gas heated porridge for breakfast I will be startled. If we’re using rushlights after sundown, well, it’s the summer holidays....0 -
Thunderstorms all around us, but nothing much actually over us last night, unfortunately.
Himself has actually been paid and ordered a WM (not the one he initially thought of, as I murmured something about 'what size is the other one, as I don't think they're standard depths anymore?' - he wandered off with a tape measure and came back to look again, purely coincidentally at the one I liked better for the extra quick washes). He can manage installation, as he managed disconnection, so I'm prepared to [strike]risk that[/strike] let him do that and save £25 on taking out a few bolts and securing the inlet & outlet pipes. It's coming Sunday, apparently. He's not excited yet, but I think he will be when it's finally here, as he's now refusing to wash anything at all until it arrives.
I'm looking at various bulk buys. And turning my mind towards microwaves and ovens. And dehydrators.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I think I've mentioned I am electrosensitive, and can use neither wifi or mobile phones. I've just been watching this which came up today:

The 'snotty-totty' minister who rebutted the proposal at 37.10 made me ashamed to be a conservative.0 -
Brilliant news, Jojo :T Enjoy the new WM. And the microwave/oven/dehydrator. And of course the new job!0

For anyone with a penknife in their bag, there's a news story you may want to run an eye over:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-49033430Thousands of knives and sharp objects are being confiscated annually at London family courts, with campaigners saying it showed how "desensitised" some people were to carrying weapons.
I don't know about you but last I was in a court building I went through the ring of steel and (with colleagues waiting behind me) asked Security if they'd hold my SAK for the meeting. Sure, not a problem & I got a raffle ticket to collect it with later. I'm not desensitised to weapons [I think] - but then I'm not in London for meetings, I'm in Manchester, where people die in the same ways but the journalists are slightly less frantic.
That said, anyone who rocks up to Family Court with a knife ought to expect to be stopped, searched and have their knife (and any other could be improvised as a weapon kit) taken from them - how they conduct themselves clues the security as to whether or not to hand it back!0 -
Court's security will confiscate deoderant and any bottled stuff that you aren't prepared to take a drink of in front of them.
Knitting needles not allowed either and presumably other pointy non knife things .0 -
Whereas a lot of airlines do permit knitting needles (especially wooden ones) as occupied, focused knitters are less tricky to deal with than stressed drunken passengers!
Interesting to see what's OK & what's harder, where.
I did't realise you could ask the police to recover your phone if it was thrown in a canal. They usually recover bodies but the article I read was relatively cheerful - "it was like carphone warehouse down there"!
A timely reminder than canal towpaths are not always safe wholesome places & that being able to swim is always a good start. You still may need help to get out. Especially "in drainpipe jeans & with a couple of pints aboard"...0
