I had my usual size annual delivery at the weekend and the chap told me of people buying several van loads instead of their usual delivery size, people stopping him at traffic lights to ask for his phone no to order, tales of theft from his yard and even a whole delivery being stolen off a driveway within an hour of being delivered. The local pub had an attempt on its oil tank recently, in broad daylight and during pub opening hours. This is supposedly a low crime area so goodness only knows what is happening elsewhere.
We managed to get most of mine put away and what was left on the driveway overnight is still there - it will be put away today.
So, make sure your fuel, preps and home are extra secure this winter.
We were away for a few days before the weekend and left the kids and dogs at home. (18 & 12 and in laws live literally 100 yards from us) but all I could see on my FB feed was that the street over from us had had people in balaclavas trying peoples cars and front doors.

on a preps note we are supposed to be going to london at the end of the month for an overnight stay. hotel and train tickets all booked. i'm wondering now if we should stay away and put it off for a while.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

My parents and I arrived in London two days after Princess Diana's funeral. The flowers all around were lovely. Every town seemed to have a memorial. It is something I have never forgotten. It might be an interesting time for you ariania.4

maybe. and it's a moment in history. but i was just thinking with 2 10ish year olds (and one not a big fan of crowds at the best of times) it might be a bit much.
might see what it's like closet t the time given everything is booked and paid for. OH has checked online and apparently the plan is for the funeral to be 10 days after her death so by the 29th things might have reached an equilibrium.
still. this past few years have been like the sand constantly being eroded on the beech. just feeling really unsettled this evening and fighting the instinct to bunker down until it all stops moving.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

best ive seen recently is 7.50 a kilo if you buy 6x400g tubs (2,4kg for 17.99). you have to add the full price to your basket then be offered the 20% off. (in the listing it was 15% off then in my basket they offered 5% but when i went to the checkout it went up to 20%. you can immediately cancel the subscription after checking out)

How do you find out which phone socket will work in a power cut *without* turning off the electricity? Or do you just have to have a standalone phone (& indicative label) beside the candlestick & matches?2
