  • Saw this on Kirstie Allsop's programme - magic. Before trying to measure our black treacle or golden syrup for cooking gingerbread etc, rub a little sunflower or olive oil on the measuring spoon. It comes away cleanly, with no scraping with another spoon, and no getting it all over the side of the tin, your hands, the worktop and the dog!

But I like licking the spoon, no dog but I bet they would like licking their syrupy fur also

  • All I want to know is whether there is a special MSE badge for my oxo revelation! As my bake off one is still absent :o

  • I’ve always heated the spoon over a gas burner on the cooker before measuring out treacle..... because that’s what my mum did! 😜😜

I like the Oxo one - I never knew until I saw it on the internet BUT i must be the only person who manages to rip the foil when crushing it inside! For me its easier to unwrap and crush with my fingers its the same amount of mess whichever way I do it ha ha

For me finding out TAG meant touch and go was madness and also that the clock face on the clock app on the iphone is an actual working clock!

I lived to the age of 40 years before I saw a friend take off the top of a tube and use the spike on it to pierce the silver seal.

I felt so silly. I had been using a skewer.

Took me a while to figure it out as well.

Clingfilm - who knew (not me :o) that the push in tabs on sides of the box turned it into a dispenser. Talk about eye opening no more lost ends....:rotfl:
