Refund

Bought an "Air Fryer" from B&M - used it once last night, VERY disappointed with the results, want to return it for full cash refund (paid cash and have the receipt,)
Rang B&M and they said that because I've used it they might only offer me store discount as a refund, am I within my rights to demand a full cash refund? How would I know I don't want the product if I didn't use it? I am not happy with it's performance as a thing, surely I have rights as a consumer?
Please advise

Unless the item isn't faulty you have no right to return it for a refund. Just because something doesn't meet up with your expectation doesn't mean that it fails to conform to contract.smokinfish wrote: »Bought an "Air Fryer" from B&M - used it once last night, VERY disappointed with the results, want to return it for full cash refund (paid cash and have the receipt,)

What is wrong with it? Is it faulty or does it not work how you expected?0

You do your research before you buy it. Check reviews for the item. Find out what others think about the item. You don't get to use it and if you don't like it return it for your money back.0

B&M returns policy is here - https://www.bmstores.co.uk/returns-policy
What is wrong with it and which one did you buy? if it is working as design and you have changed your mind then there is no right to refund so even store credit would be something.0 -
The unit isn't an Air Fryer, just a Halogen Fan Oven, it was very poor. I thought I have rights as a consumer if I'm not happy with the performance of a product I can return it?0

There's a bit of a difference between an air fryer and a halogen oven. What exactly did you purchase?smokinfish wrote: »The unit isn't an Air Fryer, just a Halogen Fan Oven, it was very poor. I thought I have rights as a consumer if I'm not happy with the performance of a product I can return it?

The Mo Health Air Fryer - the 34.99 one
But it's basically a halogen oven, with a fan. Bought it cos it was the biggest one. Burned the edges of the chips while leaving them raw in the middle - tried again at lower heat, took 40 minutes and threw out hard on the edges but soggy in the middle chips - my fan oven does better! Rubbish. It's going back.0 -
With chips the cooking results can be dependant on the variety of potato that is used.0

It doesn't sound like it is fit for purpose. I would take it back to the store and explain that you have followed the instructions for cooking chips, used the correct variety of potatoes (one that is known as chipping potato), and it doesn't work. As a retail customer, you can't be required to know whether the unit is faulty when compared to other units of the same model - you have nothing to compare it with. You just know that it can't cook chips, and if the manual tells you how to cook chips and this doesn't work, then it is faulty. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0
