Jeyes fluid anyone

I know this seems an insane question to be asking on the money saving expert forum...however, hoping that somebody might know.
I have recently been trying to buy a can of jeyes fluid. The original strong smelling brown stuff. I bought a tin only to find that it was green and the smell is more like disinfectant. I have tried in so many dofferent places...homebase etc and they only have jeyes outdoor cleaner which is this green disinfectant smelling stuff. On asking anybody in a shop whether the original brown one (that smells sort of creosotey (?) has been discontinued i have been told they dont know...
The original strong smelling brown liquid is teh only thing that helps deter foxes from my garden (i pour some onto the fence and allow it to seep into the wood)...nothing else works...
Does anybody know whether the original jeyes has been discontinued please.....thanks.....i have googled and even on ebay they are only selling this outdoor cleaner that is green.
so grateful if anyone could answer this mindless question for me...

I bought a 5l can from a B&M store a few weeks ago.0

Yeah, the 2 cans I have were bought from the Co-operative Food and B&Q. I think Wilco also sells it. I am not familiar with the one you mention, will keep my eye out for it. Hope you manage to track it down.0

Try any shop that sells horse stuff, such as tack, rugs, stable rakes etc.0

Try contacting the manufacturer?
My guess would be, given creosote itself has been banned now, and Jeyes fluid also contained coal tar derivatives, is that the formula may well have been changed. Another victim of the decline of the coal industry?
If you can get hold of them, try mothballs (also a coal derivative, as they are made from naphthalene).Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I managed to get a couple of discounted tins when Poundworld was closing down. According to the Tesco website they do 'Jeyes Fluid Original' at £4 for a 300ml tin. The 'additional safety information' says "DANGER Contains: 4-chloro-m-cresol and Tar Acids.".... which is just what I wanted to see
A relatively reliable way of making sure you are buying what you expect is to look for a product Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and make a note of the hazard warnings and description. Here's an example:-
http://dchd.co.uk/admin/SDS_JeyesFluid1L.pdf
Under the 'Contains' section (2.2) it says:-4-CHLORO-M-CRESOL
TAR ACIDS, (POLY)ALKYLPHENOL FRACTIONAppearance: Clear Viscous liquid.
Colour: Dark brown.
Odour: Typical tar acid odour
All you need to do is to make sure the tin you are buying makes reference to the same kind of contents and hazard warnings and then you have a reasonable chance you are buying what you expect.
Worryingly though, in looking for the SDS I found one for 'New Jeyes Fluid' **shudder**"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -

Does it work with cats
When I was a child an elderly neighbour left a dustbin open, jeyes fluid at the bottom. My pet cat ended up in that bin and almost died.
Please don't use aggressive chemicals against cats. They don't do any real harm and you risk poisoning someones pet. Try electronic (sound based) deterrents, or get a cat yourself to protect your territory.0 -
B&M stock it- i use to disinfect the stablesIf you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation0
