There are around 40 slightly different starting times for e7 with teleswitch, this is to spread out the starting time and load balancing (No idea what is going to happen when everyone gets moved onto a timeswitched meter, thought there are a few different ones there too), some even turn of for an hour in the night to end an hour later. They are all normal e7 and not a split tarrif.
    .

RTC (real time clock) meters with a lithium battery and preset clock can be set to have a built in random variance for the off peak, which is around +/- 5minutes..
One day yours might come on say 3 mins early and go off 1 min late... etc...

E7 is defined loosely as "any seven hour period between xx:xx and yy:yy (usually about 22:00-10:00) as defined by the supplier."

    Hi,
You have mentioned: Its up to the occupier to adapt.
Can i adjust the switch time?
    Thanks

Switch time depends on your area code :

    Example :

I am clearly area code 2 [Northern Powergrid (Northeast) Limited] as you can see from my nym. You can reset your clock 20 times an hour and it will make no difference at all. Best of luck.

It's either Tele or Time switched by the MDD! So Time = RTC!

But cheers for the info. I assumed there was no real variance other than the time.

Yeah E7 is very loose. I think there are up to 2 hours gaps in the night in some (and not all of those with suc hare defined as split in the MDD, and even then you supplier is not going to tell you unless you find the one person why understands the stuff AND cares too!

I do wonder about the TELE's though. It was meant to be first switched off in 2010 AFAIAA. And they have been expensivly extending the deal every since as they fail to change the meters. I'm sure the government is going to want to sell off the frequencies R4 is using fairly soon so I guess it's got to happen. I guess smart meters could bring in a greater variance if they ever get out there ;-) ("COULD").

And which of the many SSC's for E7 you are assigned.

Even timeswitched has (random guess but I think I may be right!) 3. 12-07, 12.5-07.5 and 01-08.

There’s a gap in the market for a device that has a light sensor over the night rate LED on the meter to then energise remote switches in the home via wifi when it’s lit. That way people could have things switched on definitely using off-peak and avoiding the endless confusion over timings. And without monkeying with the electrics.

Many old teleswitched meters provided such a line (of a similar purpose) from the meters.

    Generally for storage heaters though.

Also often a seperate consumer unit for the off peak "only" things that were started by this.

This is the hardest part or repalceing these legacy teleswitched meters.

The customer end up with heating not wortking unless an aditional contactor is provided. This is why it is taking so long! Neither the customer or the supplier want to pay (we have been in the non domestic market though).

I think E7 Smart meters have a terminal 5 for driving the storage heaters.

It's not! I could have looked it up but meh! But like to mention things if I think of them! (I like stats and info!)

I went to Uni up in the BORO, do miss it. Thought I did go for a ride on the Saltburn cliff tram a few weeks back!

Could do, as I said, out of domestic but smart is meant to be coming to the PC1-4 business (and yes there are many 1/2 PC business customers oddly enough, the system got weird).

I just remeber all the issues we had doing AMR for business on such tarrifs and needed an external contactor.
