Economy 7 clock is ahead for 15 mins
Options
Hi,
I have just noticed that my Economy 7 clock is ahead for 15 mins since last summer. I have compared it with my neighbours and mine switch to the more expensive tariff earlier. I switched energy companies on May, do you think that my new energy company or the old one is moving the economy 7 switch remotely?
The switch i have is: Radio teleswitch Series 3
Thanks.
Andres

15 mins is that all ?
If the 7am switch is early, this isn't too bad, as I hope the thermostat have cut the heaters off by then.
If you have your own timer, sync it.
I don't think energy companies control this and won't be interested
I imagine it also switch to cheap rate earilier too. So still 7 hours0 -
All can be different to spread the load on loads of storage heaters / immersion heaters and the like coming on at the same time.
Your energy supplier has no say over the timings, let alone the ability to change them
You'll get the 7 hours regardless of what time it starts.
Mine are 00:30 - 7:30 at the moment where as others I know are anyt time up to half hour either side of midnight.0 -
And at the mo' our night rate starts at 0330 which will be 0430 come bst. No problem!0

Its doing well at only 15 mins out, lucky you. I see hundreds which are 12 hours out !.. These are the old 24 analogue circular timer switches ..Digital clocks on meters which have been in a fair while are also drifting well away from the correct time. Its up to the occupier to adapt.
Only Scottish Power , for the suppliers I work for , have a vague interest of how accurate the clocks are and they are only interested in timers more than 2 hours out.0 -
Hi,
You have mentioned: Its up to the occupier to adapt.
Can i adjust the switch time?
Thanks0 -

NO - if you could it would be open to abuse. What is so critical about the 15minutes?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Old analogue timers and Radio Teleswitch timers both have a metal seal on them indicating no entry. They both have 220 volts running through them. I m surprised that your Radio Teleswitch timer is out by 15 mins. On the job meter reading I have observed many of them switching off the low rate at 8.30 am in BST (7.30 GMT ) with an audible click .They have all been spot on with maybe no more than a minute out..Maybe yours will correct itself at the next adjustment in March.
Its time the suppliers got their act together and installed smart Eco 7. Its badly needed given all the transposed billings, timer faults..
Secure Liberty meters do have smart Eco 7 working though having seen quite a few displaying day/night reads.. If you switch to a smaller, probably cheaper supplier, then they appear to all be using this meter. Smart Eco 7 will be absolutely spot on every time0 -

There are around 40 slightly different starting times for e7 with teleswitch, this is to spread out the starting time and load balancing (No idea what is going to happen when everyone gets moved onto a timeswitched meter, thought there are a few different ones there too), some even turn of for an hour in the night to end an hour later. They are all normal e7 and not a split tarrif.
So your switch is probably perfectly right.
And you do not get to change this or alter it. It you want a more standard time get a smart meter fitted as you will move onto a timeswitched meter.0
