Sorry, I don't get involved in detailed court cases. I joined this forum 6.5 years and 24,000+ posts ago to help motorists avoid private parking charge penalties at first base, but the forum has morphed out of all previous recognition into a much more complicated (quasi legal) platform due to the PPCs' exponential and malevolent use of the court process to pursue their charges.

The rather unrealistic expectation of motorists for detailed analyses of their court cases has seriously over-heated the forum, to the point where there are often no responses to demands for such service, leaving posters (unrealistically) frustrated.

My time spent on this and PePiPoo forums already consumes much of my day/evening, so I had to make a decision where I draw the line in the sand!

So that line was not involving myself in the minutiae of court cases, otherwise I'd likely be defending my own court case - when Mrs Umkomaas files for divorce!

I feel the same way as Ulko. Virtually everyhing you need to know about fighting parking scammers is available on the internet, just avoid the know-it-alls on Facebook and mumsnet.

Like most other BW Legal cases they have written and want me to settle the claim for a reduced sum of £170.

I will continue to prepare for court.

I have updated my WS in #84 above. If anybody does have a little time to offer a few words of feedback that would be great but realistically I understand you all have your own busy lives to lead.

Today I have received a copy of the claimants “Notice of discontinuance” from BW Legal which their solicitor has signed and sent to the Southampton county court. Does that mean it is all over? Do I need to take any further action?

It might be wise to check with the court that they too have received the Notice of Discontinuance.

However, if this was just days before the hearing, ring the court an ask that it proceeds to hear your costs alone.

Get your costs in front of a Judge, as discontinuing days before a hearing is an abuse of the court process and it might not be removed from the court list.

Great news. Court date was 16th Oct at Southampton so I will contact them and check. Thanks so much for all your help. I suspect the ongoing “abuse of process” defence played a large part here.
