Candygirl, I hope the call goes ok. I'm thinking about finding a counsellor just so I can offload some of the things I am feeling atm.

Ta, glad to see you posting.

    Welcome Bappybrunette.

Waiting game here until the consultant appointment this afternoon. We've got quite a lot to discuss with him so I hope he's in a co-operative mood.

Then we're going up to the Wirral to sis-in-laws - we should have gone yesterday but had to postpone because of the hospital.

I had to refer myself to Minds matter!! n it's taken 5 weeks for them to schedule this call , so God knows how long it'll be until it actually starts, as this is just an assessment call :o
I had CBT years ago, but think I need some sort of talking therapy now x

    Afternoon all
A bit late today but have been here there and everywhere today and this is the first chance of a sit down.
Nelski the way I feel about Dad at present is under the flipping charabang . We had to go out this morning to sort out the mess he made 2 weeks ago.
I tried to talk to him yesterday, he kept interrupting me and tried to change the subject, but I stood my ground. Blimey these tablets ( anti D's ) the Dr gave me must be doing me some good already, at least they are helping me sleep better and I have another appointment on Thursday to see how I am. The atmosphere with Dad was a bit icy and so Mr Fix It became flavour of the month. Sorry for the sob story.
Today he turns up unexpectedly with a peace offering of a punnet of pears and surprise, surprise, he has booked an appointment with the same Dr tomorrow. Probably checking up on what I said to him was correct :(.
This afternoon I was going to write out my Xmas cards, but they have only made it as far as downstairs, well that's a step in the right direction I suppose :rotfl:
Tea tonight will be chicken and chips, with some jam roly poly and custard left over from yesterday.

TA thank you for posting, it was lovely to "see you " again. I want a kitten too ( insert stamps foot smilie :D )
BappyB hi  always room for one more :j

  • Hi everyone, I'm really late today, had a busy morning then caught up with friends I used to work besidesome years ago. It was lovely hearing their plans for family Christmas visits. It left me feeling a bit wistful as most of my close family live in lands too far away to visit frequently. I had a wonderful time with them last Christmas, and I'm saving my pennies and pounds towards the next trip, date unknown.

So, I'm going to have a cheery Christmas regardless, and today fell in love with tiny twinkly LED lights, and bought them :) Now a string of 400 are twinkling away on and around my mantelpiece :) A bit early, but it's so dark so early that anything twinkly raising a smile is good medicine for the soul!

I'm going to invite a couple of oldies living elsewhere in the block to come and watch a Christmas DVD or two, with mince pies and ice cream in the 'interval' (comfort break).

Closer to New Year, some friends are coming to an all day viewing of 'Gone with the Wind'. Lunch in the middle will be a pot luck, I'll provide two soups. Another friend from the Scrabble group is hosting a board games day, and there will be swimming and walks, weather permitting. And I've opted in to a couple of social events within the building.

I think the trick is to be proactive and try to get the balance right, and I'm surely reaping the benefits of moving into town closer to friends - rightly called the family we choose for ourselves. It was joining the U3A five years ago which opened so many doors for me. Such a great way of meeting like minded people.

Welcome to BappyB. TA I adore cats and mine is such great company. I truly relax in her company, and luckily for me, she's a lap cat, often appearing on my knee without me noticing, if I'm engrossed in reading something.

SO, please hit 'post' instead of deleting. We're all friends on here and what you describe as mundane is important, it's the nuts and bolts of everyday life. I love the feeling of connection we all share, and it's the small things we want to share, even hanging out the washing or getting soup made, it helps us picture you and builds understanding.

By the way, I don't know what picture you may have of me in your head, but I'm 5 ft 2 ins, size 10, freckles and blond hair. I usually dress casually, jeans and tops, but today for the get together I wore a dress, leggings and smart boots. Back to auld claes and porridge tomorrow! xxx

Good evening everyone, sending the evening ration of hugs and spoons.

I haven't been able to post for quite a while, RL became messy and I have been angry/very het up/worried stiff, sometimes all at once:eek:

Today I visited my DM for the third time in her new home, the residential home of her choice:D she has been there exactly one week and is settling well, her room is nice and on the GF with a view of a field with 3 horses, rabbits and some birdlife. The staff seem lovely, lots of laughter, good food all freshly cooked on the premises too. We are still awaiting on the SW to sort out the paperwork for her permanent residency, currently booked in for 2 weeks respite, have to trust that it will happen, but she isn't going anywhere, the manager confirms that to us, my DSis and I joke that if anyone thinks otherwise 5 offspring, spouses and numerous grand children will stage a sit in:rotfl::rotfl:

  • Just popping back in for a quick look at how people's days have gone .

TA - please don't beat yourself up over not posting. We all completely understand when you're not up to telling us how things have been BUT please don't let that stop you from posting .................... even if it's just to send us all a , :) or :( ................ we're hear for you whenever you want to post, no matter WHAT you post ((((Gentle Hugs)))).
silver-oldie - hello :D. Sorry your mum isn't speaking to you at the moment - don't take it to heart :(. I'm sure it says 'more about HER than about you'. Does she do this with other people as well? Probably like a child who hits out at those who love them the most - because they know that they can get away with it and still be forgiven :undecided.
Cranky - well done on your decluttering :T and hope your cake decorating goes well ;).
Nelski - what a lovely idea to take names for 'Disgruntled Parents Charra Trip' - now you need to come up with a suitable destination to send them to ...................... how about Coventry for starters ;):p!
Bozwood - love the sound of your cats. We had our Tiggy-Tiger for 14yrs but had to have him pts due to cancer in his kidneys . We swore never to get another one after that :(.
-taff - hope you enjoyed your trip to Bath Christmas Market AND that you found a 'very convenient pub' if, or WHEN, you needed one ;).
Gers - wow, your car must be able to find it's way to Glasgow and back all by itself, by now ;)! Hope all's well with your DM.
poppy - so true about how something, as sudden as seeing somebody similar or wearing something similar, can trigger a 'miss you moment' :(.
Speky - hope all is now sorted with your Sky AND new locks/keys PLUS you remembered to get your shopping on saturday :j. I don't suppose you've managed to get out'n'about in Manchester yet - lots of interesting places for when you can actually find some time :).
csarina - hope your appointment went well over the cataract.
ancientofdays - best of luck with DS's laundry .
BappyBrunette - welcome to the board . Always good to welcome new posters :j! You'll find lots of ideas and support on this board and this thread is always good for a 'daily boost' :D.
candygirl - ((((Healing Hugs)))) for this afternoon's appointment and all the other tasks that you've got to get through for the day - 'moan away' whenever you need to .................... we can all take it. Sometimes that can be far more beneficial than all the counselling/cbt/medication combined ;).
Hester - hope all's well with CHW and 'life on board' :).
snoozer - good luck with DH's appointment and safe journey to The Wirral - I'll give you a wave from the 'other side of the water' ;)!
nannywindows - I'm sure Nelski can find a spare seat for your DD ;). My Christmas Cards are still sitting in the landing cupboard - so you've got further than I have :rotfl:.
meanmarie - that's happened to me a few times as well - think I've sussed out where I've gone wrong a few times, but it's so disheartening when it happens :(.
WeeMidgie - loving the sound of your plans for over the Christmas period :D. When I was a Sheltered Scheme Manager, I used to host a 'Tea/Coffee/Hot Chocolate/Sherry 'n' Mince Pies' Christmas Eve with Christmas Carols and Songs for anybody who was alone but would rather be in the company of others. Not everybody wanted to come along, but those who did always came back the following year :D.
maddiemay - your DM's new home sounds lovely :D. Hoping that you soon get the 'all clear' on the paperwork and she can become 'official' :T.

I've had a great time at the CS this afternoon. Really getting used to being part of the 'Monday Team' now and we're all slotting together nicely. Lots of people looking for 'christmas bargains' and we've put out loads of 'sparkly' dresses and tops, very pretty glitzy shoes, Christmas Jumpers and lots of Onesies. Came home with an absolute bargain - a SuperKingSize Duvet that's Brand New and still in it's original wrapper (the shrinkwrap type) :j. The one that I currently have is just NOT THE RIGHT SIZE FOR A SUPERKING and has NEVER properly fitted in any of the covers that I've bought; that's how I KNOW that it's the duvet that's the wrong size, as all the covers are too big for it. I let the supervisor put a price on it and she let me have it for £5 :j - the 'wrong size one' cost me £75 from the catalogue ! Also bought a stocking filler for OH - a Gift Set of a DVD and Book on Cricket for £2 :D.

Followed that with a trip to A$DA for a sucessful whoopsie hunt - Wild Bird Seed half price for downstairs neighbour (£2.50 instead of £5) - Gluten Free Granola Bars (£1.50 instead of £3) - large pack of 'Sliced Ham on the Bone' (£1.53 instead of £4), which I'll freeze in smaller packs of 4 slices for sandwiches for over Christmas/New Year :T.

I'm off to watch 'Poirot - Murder On The Orient Express' now and then finish off with 'Vera' - my idea of heaven ;).

Night, night - God Bless - don't let the bedbugs bite - luv Ollie xxx
