  • Morning folks. Despite being up since silly o'clock I am still here slobbing around in my dressing gown but will head to the shower when I can prise myself off the sofa.

I am a cat lover too Bozwood and I am seriously thinking of adopting one from one of the many cat rescue homes round here. We always had cats when I was at home many moons ago and when we got married one of the cats came with me. Bob preferred dogs and when my cat died we got a dog. A stray cat adopted us for a while and then disappeared as fast as she came. More dogs followed over the years. Joined by cats that lived with us short term when DD and DS moved back home with them! After the last dog went over the Rainbow Bridge we decided we were getting too old to commit to dog walking and remained petless. Now I am alone I think the time has come to adopt a cat - watch this space!

Have a good day folks and copious ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried and lonely amongst us. Take care all xx

Today I am going out. I have no idea how long it will last for as I think I and my friends have seriously understimated how far I can walk without collapsing like a jellyfish. I'm a bit worried, but there are always taxis, and pubs, so if it's gets too bad, I'll find one of those. It's Bath Christmas Market time.....there were some nice glass ree decorations last time but I didn't think much of the handmade stuff, but we'll see.
OH has a consultant appt this evenng so will be back before then and will go with him. We're talking again, and he has done some stuff, wonder of wonders! Think he's finally getting it....

Sorry Nelski, shame you can't spread out a bit...ah well, nearly christmas :) hope banangate goes ok.....SO, post them, I'm interested, it's nice to feel a connection to someone elses words when I get so little outside ineteraction. It's been good for me to vent occasionally too, and moan my !!!! off about side effects etc. Just saw your post, she's a bit of a mare isn't she?...TA, it's normal, stuff just hits you like a ton of bricks and it's hard to poke a brick or two out. Bozwood, your cats sound cute, I'd like one, but right now, even the Little Prince visiting is a bit much sometimes. Tru, you and Gers seem to be having the same thing! Garlic, lots of it, and chilli soup! :)
Happy beginning of the week, may the force be with you :)

    Good morning folks.

I'm reluctant to get out of bed, it's so cold. Mind you, my hands are now freezing too from using my iPad. :rotfl:

I've got a two hour teaching session this morning. The car is packed with rubbish and recycling to go to the tip. So much cardboard.

My fridge is practically empty - there's milk, butter and gherkins in there, and one cooked chicken leg. I'm away so much with DM that I've given up doing a proper shop. I'm going back down to her tomorrow to take DM for a CT scan, back home on Thursday morning for a face to face teaching session and the back to Glasgow to take DM to the dentist on Friday morning. On Sunday I may sleep all day!

TA - it's lovely to see you posting again. Getting a cat would be brilliant.

When I was much younger I won a kitten at a school fair in Hoo. She was a lovely cat who always brought us 'presents' (some alive, some dead) and used to meet me from the school bus every day. I can still see her sitting under a bush at the stop and then running ahead of me up the hill to home, sometimes stopping whilst I caught up. :j She lived to be approximately 20 years old. One day she jumped off the bed, did a miaow, lay down and died. By then she was living with my Dad and kept him going. Such a great cat.

Enough waffle...I'm ready to face the cold.

    Happy Monday to everybody.
  • Morning all. Quite a bit better at the moment so going to clean my bedroom and then hopefully do some local Christmas shopping. I have not even written a card yet!
TA , it is an awful adjustment you are going through. I lost my husband over 2 years ago and still miss him terribly. I was leaving X Ray the other day after a scan when I saw a man who just for a moment I thought was my husband. Really unnerved me. It seems you never know when memories will surface. Taff, how are you doing? You sound exhausted.
Have a good day if you can everyone,
  • Good morning everyone,

I hope you all had a nice weekend.

This was my first weekend in Manchester on my own. I didn't get up to much, but that's just what I needed. It was productive with doing various bits and bobs of life admin that had been neglected over the last month or so. Plus, I remembered to do my shopping on Saturday instead of Sunday this time!

I had the Sky engineer coming over to the flat at some point between 8am-1pm, so I'm working from home for the first part of the day. Once that's done, I'll head into work, which will on take me 15 minutes since it's not rush hour. But I need to be back by 6pm as my landlord has arranged for someone to come and change the lock on the door as her house was burgled, including a spare set of keys to my flat. Turns out the 3 guys who done it came the night before and cut the wires on their external lighting, then came during the night and took everything, including their 2 cars!! Scary stuff.

Right must get on and not get distracted from working at home. Hope everyone has a lovely Monday.

Nelski - Cracking deal in the Italian, especially if it lasts 2 days. Feel free to share any of your new founds tips on managing stress btw.
SO - I agree with Nelski. Best to get it off your chest. You know the majority of us well enough to know we don't judge and will only try to offer some help and suggestions. Hope you're doing ok.
Bozwood - In the argument of cats or dogs, I'm on the dog's side.
taff - Do only what you can and don't over do it. Walk before you can run (almost literally)
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Good to see TA posting, can well understand your downer after the funeral, thats when life becomes 'real' again. Keep your chin up girl we are all rooting for you!!

Appointment to see about my cataract, having to use volunteer transport, not that I can see them putting drops in my eyes, but you never know.

Very grey again this morning, I really hate this weather its when my mood descends into a black hole, once 21st Dec is over I can look forward to the lighter nights again.

Cold chicken for supper, might do jacket spuds to bump it up a bit.
  • Morning all, I tried to have a lie in but I was too cold!

TA it is good to see posts from you, I u nderstand about dreading Christmas.

My clean and tidy house is still clean other than the routine stuff that needs to be done all the time but DS is back home and blimey, the mess. He's given me a week's worth of clothes to wash but it looks like a month's laundry, things are unpacked all over, snack wrappers keep hiding but I've found most, I'm now inclined to leave the lot. Except the washing because am tripping over it.

No plans I think I might sequester myself out of the way.

I cooked a huge casserole last night but we'd eaten so much over the preceding days that I couldn't eat very much of mine and had no room for pudding. We don't really go in for puddings normally, just fruit for DS. So they had a combination of raspberries, bananas, pumpkin pie and Asian sweetmeats.

    I'm off to hide now.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning all.

I am new to the boards, and very new to OS. Having a bit of a read, and giving myself a good telling off for not finding this sooner.

I am 35, live in Somerset with my two children, 3 year old girl and 8 year old boy. Struggling, as a single mum, so looking for ways to make the pennies stretch, at the same time give my children the childhood they deserve.

Going for a good mooch -
