Parking eye using DRP - confused

Second Anniversary
Hi,

So in February I was parked in a pay and display car park, I had parked up late at night to talk with a friend. I was in the car park for 15 minutes but never left the car. I received some letters from parking eye that was passed on from the company who owned the car (I had this car following a car crash while mine was repaired). I stupidly paid the car company the admin fee as they still had my car and I was a little worried about this. I ignored the letters from parkingeye as I had done before and it had gone away. But I’ve recieved a letter from debt recovery plus this was yesterday.

I read the newbi thread, but in all honestesy I feel some what lost still as I didn’t keep the original letters and I’m unsure who or if I should contact any one. Could I get some advice to ease my feelings of stupidity!

Cheers

ParkingEye don't use Debt Recovery Plus? Your PCN is not from ParkingEye.

I am amazed you are lost then. What's wrong with the 4th post of the NEWBIES thread?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

A more descriptive thread title would be good.

To change your thread title edit your opening post, then Go Advanced, then type something more appropriate in the Title box.
  • It’s definitely parkingeye, I checked the car park and also it says it on the DRP letter, should I continue to ignore as the advice states or send a letter to parkingeye?

I think before anyone can take this seriously, you need to scan the DRP letter removing your personal details
Upload to a free hosting site and link here using hxxp (not http)
and someone will make it live.

What letter were you proposing to send to Parking Eye now you are at debt recovery stage?

This is unusual, but lets not forget, Parking Eye has now been sold on to Macquarie so maybe true.

There have been at least 3 recent threads reporting a PE/DRP axis.

Just musing as to whether having been deCAPITAted, PE's previous arrangement with EQUITA is either no longer available to them, or they don't get mates rates any more? DRP do it for nowt if they fail. :D
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Anything is possible with the scammers. As PE know, even their own Equita fails at every stage to chase for the parking scammers

DRP are just the dregs of the industry. Maybe it's the "no win--no fee" that has attracted PE and what a waste of time that will be

What next ..... will PE be adding the fake £60 on top ???

It is the will of Parliament that these scammers be put out of business. Hopefully that will take place in the near future. In the meantime involve your MP, the poor dears are buckling under the weight of complaints about these scammers. Read this one which I wrote earlier

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some of these companies may have connections to organised crime.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, (especially Smart}, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers.

Sir Greg Knight's Private Members Bill to curb the excesses, and perhaps close down, some of these companies passed its Third Reading in late November, and, with a fair wind, will become Law next year.

All three readings are available to watch on the internet, (some 6-7 hours), and published in Hansard. MPs have an extremely low opinion of the industry. Many are complaining that they are becoming overwhelmed by complaints from members of the public. Add to their burden, complain in the most robust terms about the scammers.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • parking eye no longer owned by crapita , so no free equita
  • I just had a look on Debt Recovery Plus's web site and Parking Eye appear under their client list - not surprising I guess, why pay to chase a fake debt if someone else say's they will do it for you for free. It's just a great shame to think that DRP's business model obviously is working for them.
