Huh? I was responding to YOUR response (post #8) to post #7 by molerat. The tone of your post #10 suggests you still don't understand what's being said.
Was that when you DIDN't mention 'The person who posted'
Believe me I know whatI require which I'll continue to consider some options.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
I only require maybe 250/500 or 1TB -though for a few and far between blue ray purchases 1TB prb' exceeds my requirements.Main priority is to save 1st and stop tech spends when possible.0

Was that because there was no need to mention who I meant because YOU HAD QUOTED THEM, and I was replying to (and quoted) YOUR POST!
Whatever - You don't NEED a WiFi enabled HDD - unless your router doesn't support sharing of devices connected to the USB port on the router. (Which you haven't said).0 -
Just adding to what's already been saidAre there any reasonably costed wireless hdd or ssd's available.
Storage doesn't need its own WiFi, you simply connect it to one. So guessing that you mean you want to have files stored on the HDD to be available to your phone / tablet / laptop via your existing home WiFi - Just buy an ordinary USB HDD and connect it to your router with a cable.
Or, configure a PC as a file server, or buy a NAS. These methods would also use your existing WiFi.0 -

There is no need for such a device to exist. Which is why you are being asked what you want it for. It's a bit like somebody asking where can you buy a washing machine with its own water supply. We are trying to imagine why you might need such a thing. Such as for portability perhaps.

I had a time machine setup with 500mb WD external usb2 hdd quite some time ago with powered usb hub to AirPort Extreme
Tech has progressed since then e.g. there a External portable hdd available which can be accessed over wifi such as WD my cloud -if there's a usb 3 connection to router that's fine.
Any external storage options are since delayed as I have since purchased some movies from Apple store so no discs required -HD quality is good enough when viewing @2160P via Sony4k t.v.
One example of what I was considering is
Asus Travelair N 1 TB Wireless Hard Drive with NFC Connection
Though no hurry as I only wanted use from my recently purchased blue ray reader/writer at that time the movies that since became available on offer as trioligy were only evailable separately at addiotnal cost.
To add some mes'r to my recent purchase is currently 10 u.k. pounds for movies trilogy.
Maybe addiotnal storage hardware can wait until 2019 -depends on what becomes available over next few weeks/months.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
What became of your claim that:

My statement not a claim was as I have reached a point where I don't need to upgrade tech equipment for some time.
Additional storage isn't upgrading as such -more of making better use of what I have i.e. ability to play and record/upload purchased blue ray movies.💿Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. For instance if you use the cloud tech to access files on the Asus Travelair at home, instead of just connecting it by cable to your router - then it'll be slow and cumbersome and you'll have to switch SSIDs etc.
If I had a Asus Travelair, I would definitely be cable connecting it at home.0 -
As people here already said so, I still do not understand why you need to a WiFi based strorage at all, please don't say you just want to buy new funky stuff (i.e. increase more debt)

Well it is interesting stuff, but but I am not sure if this product actual suits to your environment as well. It would be for travelers, outside use, or for non-tech people who cannot set up DLNA server by themselves ?
Have you setup a DLNA server ? At least, you can stream wirelessly as Asus Travelair claims. I am wondering if you can enjoy the latest technology without buying a new stuff in this way ...

A 500 millibit hard drive?! Even 500 megabytes is tiny. I don't think I've seen a drive that small since 1990 -- and that was before USB2.0.Tech has progressed since then...
But have your requirements? If not, then why waste money on the latest features if you don't need them?0
