PS24 notice just been put up

Options
As a carer, I have been parking twice a day, 4 or 5 days a week for the last couple of years visiting residents in a car park at a warden controlled housing complex for the elderly. Last night I noticed signs have been put up everywhere around the car park. PS24 have put these up, they state -
'that if a driver parks on the land without a valid PS24 permit, they are contractually agreeing to a parking charge notice of £100 reduced to £60 if paid by blah blah. . .
Realize they have done this because they've had problems lately with parents parking there to pick kids up from school opposite.
Anybody got any advice please? If I get tickets to keep ignoring? As I will need to continue parking there regularly to visit my service users, there isn't anywhere else to park as it's on a main road with double yellows.. thanks

Get the MA to either put you on a white list, or issue you with a permit.

Then get yourself a permit and quickly. The Management of the complex should be able to help

Best done now before you start getting tickets
  • Thank you, what is the white list please?

The opposite of a black list.

The advice to ignore has not been given here since the law changed in 2012.

If you are not a resident then you will need to get a visitors' permit. Residents should be made aware of the scam and the likely sh1tstorm that will be unleashed upon them.

As a carer I imagine it would be very difficult for you to say you will not visit there because of this unregulated scam. If you are an employee of a company you should make them aware of the possible problems you might encounter.
Show them the comments made by our MPs in open parliament about these unscrupulous scammers.

A whitelist is a list of permitted VRNs (vehicle reg numbers) allowing people to park without being ticketed. You along with all the residents, need to get your vehicles on such a list if there is one.

Residents should not need permits if their lease/AST does not refer to a parking scam such as this.

  • Fruitcake, thanks very much. Shall be enquiring re a permit with the housing authority, and making my employer aware.. don't hold out much hope with employer doing much though, they rarely give a stuff.
  • when you get the permit SELLOTAPE it to the inner of your screen , dont play , "blew off the dash / fell behind a vent" game SELLOTAPE IT , and be sure to check if there is expiry date written on it , or you notice a change of permits in other cars

he permit is your employers responsibility not yours , state that you cannot work at that site until you are given a permit

NO , because that would be VERY STUPID and could be VERY COSTLY

obtaining a permit or having your VRM added to a whitelist, OR BOTH, is your best bet

prevention is better than cure and less hassle , as you well know as a carer when it comes to preventing disease and flu etc rather than going through the medical issues later down the line if you are not inoculated or vaccinated
