Driving along at 30mph yesterday, some chump in a white 4x4 right on my bumper (though he spotted plod coming the other way soon enough to drop back so wasn't tailgating when police passed). Soon as there is a straight, roars through 2 speed cameras on the other side of the road which I assume he must know don't work, passes car in front as well on a blind summit and 30 seconds later I catch up and pass him stuck at some traffic lights (he was wanting to turn right on a filter). All on dash cam if he'd hit anything but fortunately he didn't.
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Driving has gone from seeing the occasional loony driver in your travels, to seeing several every time you go out.
Also I seem to see more cars with semi flat, or badly worn tyres, and cars with parking dings all over them.
Coming on here and seeing some of the posts, you get the impression that some vehicles aren't maintained at all between MOTs (Let's be thankful for MOTs!) and that the "operators" of the vehicles haven't got a clue how to drive beyond making the thing go forward while maintaining the minimum of control.0 -
Long shot/tongue in cheek - Is there smoke or soot coming out of your exhaust, is it a diesel? Maybe he didn't want to follow that.
Also, it's easier to follow than lead when driving in the dark, and I do often notice, especially after the clocks have changed, a lot of cars slowing down, and hitting the brakes every time there's an oncoming vehicle. I put it down to nervousness or dirty windscreens or glare, and try not to think about what problems they might have with their eyesight!0 -
TBH I prefer to lead than follow when it's dark. In most cases I'll be stuck behind someone in the dark, and once I'm able to overtake I quite quickly leave them behind.0
