Can I download music from my real Player or Groove Music direct on to an SD Card

^ That sounds like the perfect method, Pensioner Dave - downloading to hard disk means you've got the files and you can do whatever you like with them, including move away from Real Player if that's the ultimate goal.
Would you mind sharing a step to step guide with the thread - how to make a playlist of the tracks, and download it?

I am under the assumption that the hard disk mentioned above is actually a CD-R. I have Memorex CD -R which I believe I should be able to burn the music from my Real Player (or Groove Music), where I have approx 500 different recordings stored. On the Memorex case it states the size of the CD-R is 700mb up to 52x. How can I tell if this will be sufficient to burn all the recordings from Real Player. I am a complete novice on this subject and any guidance and help will be greatly appreciated.

Again, I'm at your mercy as I don't have the software. If the software offers the ability to download the library, or a playlist, that would generally be to the hard drive, and would be the preferred method.
If the only option is to burn a playlist, album or whatever, we would have to make do with that, but it's a waste of time and discs. Are you certain (other posters seem not) that your MP3 files are not already on your computer, and only exist on the cloud? Post #7 contains instructions on how to check.
