I just cannot believe that she had to say to you that she works for that company, it's pretty obvious to any one that it is a delicate topic that you wouldnt want just anyone to know about. Thats made me quite cross, and i'm glad that you made her company aware of this.

Its a real shame you feel you couldnt continue to go through with the care from this company, i just hope you dont give up. You got that far arranging for some help, so you should carry on and look else where - no rush though, do it at your own speed.

I am so so so sorry to hear about the troubled past you have had. But it really touched me that you have helped another child by revealing the abuse they must have been suffering.

I want you to know that you have all my support, and i will help in any way possible.

Take care and look after yourself

    Hi Again

Thank you all for your kind words.

I have been very careful on what info I have supplied on this forum. If any family member read this, they would not guess who it is.

    Update

I have rang the care manager this morning and explained my concerns. She has guaranteed that there is no way either party would find out. Apparently, each domestic/carer have their workload for the day given in a sealed envelope and are not allowed to discuss with any other employee about clients-except with managers if there was a problem etc. She did ask about the particular family member and I just explained it was confidential. I just explained that she's not the problem-its her attitude! She did agree and although she is under another manager she has heard about her tactics. She also said that if anything ever was leaked-it would be instant dismissal for her:eek:

She has put my mind at rest a little, but I have asked for the weekend to think about it and Id let her know on monday. She said thats fine-take all the time i need.

I asked if there was an alternative, but she said she would have to refer me to an agency and they would only do domestic work and she felt that I would need help with care soon. All which her care firm take on. She also said I might have to re-assessed again-is this correct?

Should I believe her then? Should i trust her? The lady she has lined up for me is new and doesnt know either family member. Are there any other questions I should ask?

    Thank you all.

    Hi

Sory this is only pat of a reply, I thought there was a scheme where you could recieve money t pay for your own care, the idea being you knew best how & what help you needed. I can't think of the name of it but thought I;d mention it in case anyone else knows what I mean?

I understand your concerns & I'm sure I'd feel the same,

    Heya

Maybe it might be an idea to get her to explain the situation and give information in writing? Also perhaps you could try some kind of health charity/ social services (I'm sure you know better than me) for a second opinion? It could be that she doesn't want to lose the contract so if trying to scare you?

However, another thing is that since you have commented she will have to be on her best behaviour as there will be NO excuse if the relative finds out. Breach of confidentiality is very serious in the care sector.

Bit arm waving I'm afraid but I thought even crap advice shows people are thinking about you!

    Good luck.

I have worked for a home care agency on behalf of social services. The agency always had to keep details of "clients" locked away and only certain people in the office had keys to the filing cabinets. Certainly no carers would ever have had access to the files. Also, if a client did not want a particular carer coming to them then that carer would be stopped immediately and someone else sent.

If the carer didn't like the agency, they could ask their social worker to move them to another one.

There is the Direct Payments Scheme here (South Glos) where "clients" are paid the appropriate amount of money into a specially set up bank account and they can employ who ever they want and pay them from this money. You would have to deal with tax and national insurance issues though. Although possibly there might be help available with this side of things, I don't really know.

Honest, Penny Pincher, I think your best bet is to speak to your social worker about this.

Also, care agencies do not just do domestic care......I was doing personal care when I was with an agency.

Hope you can get it sorted......you need some support and I really think your social worker is the best person to talk to. :)
