A paper map would obviously be cheaper than a Sat Nav, do you have any recomendations for a good road map that includes the major parks/ touristy things to see ?.

The absolute best map I have ever seen for Orlando (and I have tried a few) is one that I purchased through www.thedibb.co.uk

There's a guy on there who is a cartographer and loves Orlando and has mapped it all out for specifically Brits, so that he's included all the shops, restaurants as well as the tourist attractions. It is brilliant! I've been to Orlando 7 times and took it last time and it really helped despite all my previous visits.

I can't recommend it more highly and will have a look for the link. He's called "Mapman" on the above website and you can order from there.

ETA: Here's the link to purchase one http://www.orlandomaps.co.uk/

I have trawled through endless webpages in the last week and still struggling with Villa (with Pool, Pool table, Air Con etc).

Can anyone recommend or warn against any particular Villas/Resorts/Areas. Pls pm any links if you can.

Hi All we used a villa website from a link I found here last year but cant find it now :)

Thought it was lastminutevillas.com but this isnt workingWhat are the best sites for Florida villas

    Thanks

Its http://www.lastminutevillas.net/ Still up and running. Not as good as it used to be, because now it puts the owners first!!!

PJB good site for you to start, let them do the work for you, you will be surprised at the amount of villas that come into your inbox within 24 hours.

We now prefer to be down the I27, the extra mileage is ok because the traffic is so much lighter. You can lose 1/2 an hour with the traffic on the 192.
In WinterHaven last year took 18 minutes from getting into the car at Disney carpark to the villa.
I also like the difference in the lifestyles. Further away from Disney the more American it is. When we asked for Disney T's in the local Walmart we was told they did not sell that sort of tourist rubbish???
    Some great eating places too!

Thanks appreciate it, agree with your comments we used it last year and gto loads of quick replies, unfortunately where we are looking to go this year there arent many rentals. Will be honest love the US but cant bare to be in Orlando for any longer than necessary and this year we are going to avoid it all together :)

PJB we stayed at this one last year found it at lastminitevillas hope its ok to add the link, excellent service from the owner as well, close to everything you need. http://www.mickeysdreamvilla.com/

In case anyone needs it fifteen02.com have free upgrades on car hire at the moment, used them a few times and had excellent service.

Thanks, I have ordered the 2nd edition from that site. It includes detailed info from Sanford to Kissimmee which is my route so it's ideal, thanks.

Anyone driven from Atlanta to Orlando? As it was £800 cheaper (total for 4 or us) to fly to Atlanta rather than Orlando we're doing this when we go in August.

Anything interesting to see on the way?

i would try to spend a night in atlanta, 9 hour flight then a 7 hour drive can't be that good for you.

Oh I'm not getting straight in the car and heading out! Plan is to book a hotel at the airport (we get in at about 6pm). Grab our hire car, goto the hotel, have a swim and some dinner, goto bed, and leave early the next day (jet lag should get us up early. It'll certainly get the 2-yr old up!)

It's a long drive, but for the saving it's like being paid £100 per hour to drive it (Ok, £50 per hour for the return drive!), plus we get to see a bit more of the country. We're leaving a day earlier than originally planned to make up for it, too.
