The must have phone? Er... why? more hype than substance. Rubbish for texting, 2 meg camera with rubbish lens with no flash and no video function. Yep I can see why people really must have it....
Maybe have a look at the LG Viewty far far better alround and no silly price plus 18 month contract like the iPhone.0 -
Then please ask in right forum, like the wannbe forum this is for quick grabbits not requests0

The Iphone is over hyped.
It has a Price of around £280 just to buy it, then a £35 per month, 18 month contract for a glorified Ipod. Total over the contract is something like £900.
And the credit checking process by O2 and Apple is laughable . :-
You buy the Iphone, you take it home, you then log online to pass a credit check, you pass you keep it and it's activated, you fail and you have to go back to the retailer to return it. If you don't take it back then you have a £280 paper weight.
Apparently to save "you waitng in store for ages to find if you have passed or not", never heard of something so stupid in my life.

Hi,
I thought about the iPhone but then i can across this little beauty.
http://www.htc.com/product/03-product_tytn_II.htm
Windows Mobile 6, GPS, TomTom, Office Mobile, HSDPA, 3G, 3mb camera, Wifi etc.... the list goes on. Oh and a bloody good phone as well.
I bought a 6gb Micro SD card to go in it for £32. More than enough room for some music to listen to and put some more applications on!!
Then i came across this forum.

I have customised it and installed some fantastic software.
In my mind there is no contest between the iphone and the HTC TyTn 2 (TyTn in pronounced Titan). Its the most awesome phone i have ever owned.

There won't be any deals for it. There are only 3 shops selling it and Apple won't let them subidise it in anyway.
It will be £269 for the phone and a contract starting from £35 a month for 18 Months.0 -
I looked at this one as I am in need of a new phone and realised that yes it is overhyped and does not have half the features of a lot of mobiles currently available.
My guess is that apple will drop prices in the UK as soon as they realise that like the US it is just not selling enough units!
Apart from looking good, I am not sure it has a lot going for it so I went for a SE k850i today, not a similar phone but it does it for me!
I will stick with that and keep my ipod! You're my wife now!!0 -
iPhone - biggest con yet. A bigger rip-off than even the Sony PS3. Give it a miss. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

Hi DazzUK
Could you tell me where you got your phone and on what contract. I currently have HTC's T-Mobile Compact 2 and am nearly out of contract so looking for a replacement. After having used a PDA for a year I don't think I could go back to an ordinary phone.
Thanks

It's the contract that's the real killer on this - £35/month for 18 months is £630!
However, as I understand it, the French model has, by law, to be made available unlocked, hence no contract.
For those desperate to have the iPhone, but not wanting the extortionate contract, this may your best bet - better than unlocking it yourself via methods found on the web, as Apple software updates may render the iPhone inoperable
Personally, I prefer my 80gb ipod classic for £150 after Quidco and Capital One cashback card!0 -

I think you will still have to sign up to a contract though to be able to activate it. After you have done that then you could use it on other networks but you still have the contract to pay off.0
