HELP! address on V5 and license different to insurance doc - will it invalidate my claim?
Hi, my car was sadly written off in an accident recently (my fault) and I've just realised that I forgot to change the address on my V5 and driving license when I moved house in June. Fortunately, I did change the address on my car insurance back then so that is correct. Does anybody know whether the difference in addresses between the 3 docs will invalidate my insurance claim? I'm fretting as the insurance company has now said that this has triggered a halt in my claim while it is assessed by its 'validation Team'. Yikes!

As long as you've been truthful when you signed up to the insurance then I can't see how this would have any effect on your claim.0

Thanks - but I didn't tell them that my V5 and driving license were still registered at my previous address (as I'd forgotten all about this). Do you think they'll use this as an excuse to invalidate my claim?0

Do they wanna see your licence? If not no problem. Is it a total write off and they want the v5? If not no problem. If so, not quite sure. Thanks - but I didn't tell them that my V5 and driving license were still registered at my previous address (as I'd forgotten all about this). Yes its a total right off so they asked me to send them my V5 before paying up - however, now they;ve got it they've phoned to say that my previous address being on the V5 has halted my payment while they look into it. So now I'm stewing that they may use it as an excuse not to pay up. Do you think I'm right to worry?0

I'd be surprised if there were any issues with payment based on the address details being out of date on a V5 document. You took out your insurance policy with them based on your age, address, vehicle, prior claims history etc. not on the basis of your V5 details.0

They might make the process more difficult than it needs to be but it's not material to your claim and the details weren't part of your application so you've not been in any way fraudulent. If it does cause an issue then make a formal complaint, followed up by a complaint to the FOS.Yes its a total right off so they asked me to send them my V5 before paying up - however, now they;ve got it they've phoned to say that my previous address being on the V5 has halted my payment while they look into it. If I were the OP, I'd be more worried about possible NIPs etc. having gone unanswered.
I'd check my licence online, and change the addresses with DVLA ASAP.0 -
Thanks - what does 'OP' and 'NIPs' stand for please?0
