Appropriate compensation for no hot water and central heating

Before my landlord replaced my boiler they went through every single part available before conceding the boiler could not be repaired.
That process took an age and weeks in -21Oc weather, we were provided with halogen NON heaters to keep warm, I had a 6yr old and 1 year old at the time too, Then when they ordered a boiler, after 4 weeks of nothing showing up, I called them and they conceded that they ordered an obsolete boiler! so had to order the next best from Worcester bosch group. when that turned up, they discovered it couldn't be fitted in the kitchen where the old one was because there is a extractor fan next to the flue outside that when the extractor isn't spinning at full blast the gasses from the flue can return back through into the house. So I had to wait for them to order a chimney kit, scaffolding for them to take out the boiler tank in the attic, take the tank out the airing cupboard and fit the boiler in cupboard, put the flue through the ceiling and roof, and then work on the tiles on the outside and put the weather cap on the flue. nightmare start to fininsh and I didn't even get an apology for delays never mind compensations. Later came to find out that the because the temps in the house were so low they should have used their decamp policy. never im all clued up for next time.0 -
Thanks so much for the second bunch of replies. The issue in my case is that the agency has not kept us abreast of what is going on. I think if they managed expectations better by explaining to us what the problem was and the kind of timescale we would be looking at then that would seem reasonable. I only know a workman has been in the flat because he has let himself in while I have been in.0

Thanks Tarambor for challenging if I'm wrong to treat my tenants like clients not cash cows-You weren't obliged to do that and the tenant knew what the windows were when they signed the rental agreement. He could provide the best argument he wanted but was not eligible for compensation.
And you know; sometimes, what goes around comes around? With no voids, long term tenants, less renewals/ inventory/ agency fees, etc, I reckon I've saved £20-30k on my two little BTLs (20 and 8 years respectively); probably more as easy tenants mean I can manage 'em myself
And so I stick to my original thesis:Might be worth an appeal to the LL via the agent (who will try to brush you off!)
As a LL who values tenants, I've bunged people compensation...
Anyway, gotta get me big coat on, as the boiler's bust in me rental flat (I kid you not) so the engineer is coming at 3.30 for the THIRD time to try to fic it- but it is 10-15 years old so it might be a lost cause. Brr and Grr
And if anyone cares; the boiler was saved. And (as I apply the "treat em right... they'll treat you right" mantra to my builder), they dropped the bill for the abortive fix!
