I do not have a Smart Television. I was considering purchased an Amazon Fire stick with Alexa which is on offer at the moment at several stores (Tesco,Amazon, John Lewis to name some) for £29.95 which seems a very good deal. Will I be able to connect to Google for internet information on my TV through using the Fire Stick. How will it work.

lot easier to browse the web via a phone/tablet/laptop/pc

  • Yes, you can browse the internet with Amazon fire stick. The Silk Browser allows you to surf the web on your FireStick without the need for a mouse or keyboard attached. Along with Kodi, Netflix, and VPN, a web browser is one of the first apps you should install on your Fire Stick.

    I beg to differ.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I would argue its a "there if all other options fail" thing - if your laptop/PC is dead and your phone's out of juice then yeah okay as a stop-gap. But long term? Impractical IMO.

There might be some use for video or full-screen YouTube if you don't use the separate app but beyond that...

BUT......do not forget you still need broadband to get a wifi connection for the stick.

Alexa seems to not inderstand some accents (a bit fundamental!) but otherwise works well. Some of the text is a bit small to read easily on my tv.

Currently has only been £25 on Amazon's site.

Not having a smart TV I purchased just to see Premier sports on tv rather than on small tablet using localcast. That works very well.

Would not recommend using it as a browser. Too slow, browsers are cut down versions, not as easy to use. Far better to use a more 'traditional' device such as PC or tablet.
