I have a debt still on my file from 2010
Should not everything be wiped after 6 yrs?
I never accepted anything about this debt in he last 8 years.
How can I get the CRAs to wipe I with he six yr rule?

Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future

What’s the current account status?
What is the default date (if any).
What type of debt is it?0 -
It's not six years from when it was opened! Not enough information given. Provide more info, like GD asks. Not sure what you mean by "accepted anything", you don't say whether payments were made on it by you or a representative, whether it was defaulted, etc, so any advice given could be qrong due to some information not revealed.0

The default date was 2010 and I have ignored everyone since then.
So I have not accepted it as a debt ince then.
I understood that if you ignor for 6 years then it goes away. It if you ever rep,y to them or accept the debt again in any way the six years clock starts from zero again.
Anyway shall I write to CRAs to remove it because it’s over 6 years without any contact at all?Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0 -
Well, you are halfway correct.
A debt becomes statute barred when it reaches six years from when the debt became due, and no payment has been made and/or the debt is not acknowledged during that six years.
So is it six full years since the debt became due, ie a payment that was due was missed? If it is, and no CCJ has been issued in the meantime, then the debt is probably statute barred and you can tell the debtor so, and that you are not paying it.
Also remember that once a debt becomes statute barred, it cannot be unbarred!"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
It doesn't "go away" - it just becomes unenforceable by certain means.0

Despite ignoring the debt for 6 years they can still pursue you for it, its just not as easy.0 -
Should not the CRAs remove it automatically after the 6yrs?Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0
