I've just checked this offer out and it doesn't seem to be a Quick! Grabbit as it's an ongoing offer so I'm moving this thread over to Shop but don't drop.
Thanks

Forgive me if this sounds stupid but if I record onto a Sky + Hard drive, can i link this using a scart lead to my dvd recorder (or vcr if you have that) and record onto there thus not losing any of your saved programs?
My theory is just to press play on the sky + and record on the dvd recorder/vcr. Would this work? if not how could it be done?
Thanks in advance all - Oh and incase anyone wants to know I rang Sky. God they are difficult people but eventually I went though to cancellations and they said i could have the £49 plus multi room deal. I declined this as its only me in the house so they did me the £49 deal for a refurb box anyway without the multi. One word tot he wise though - they note down most calls from what i could tell so think of a story and stick to it - dont chop and change.0 -
Yes I think that is what some people do. I think the problem comes when the subscription lapses and you can't access the programs already saved on your hard drive. I'm not sure if your hard drive still allows you to record once you stop paying the subs.0

Thanks for the tip!, but don't think i'll bother. It'll just be the same as the VCR, loads of programs piled up and little time to watch them!.
Besides, its (almost) summer so shouldn't we all, be looking towards getting out an about, taking excercise and mowing the lawn!, not vegetating in front of the TV catching up on 1986 re-runs of casualty and those seemingly endless Xmas re-runs of the Vicar of Dibley?. Besides if you miss a Movie, it'll be repeated several times a week on the other movie channels at random times for the next 6 months anyway!!!.
Think about it, after the godlike power of being able to pause 'live' transmissions wane after the novelty wears off, is this feature really worth £120 a year when a computer *could* be used to do much the same thing on it's HDD? - In a non fuddled world, Sky should be paying us for our staying power.
Wake me up when they invent a way of pausing my Job and timeshifting to Pay-Day comes along!.0 -
I've just been checking out the T&C on the sky website
Subscription offer: Subscribe to any Sky digital package costing £19.50 or more a month get the first three months of your subscription half-price. After the third month, you'll pay the full prevailing price for your chosen package (currently £19.50 - £41 a month) unless you change your package
Sky+: Sky+ box £89 for brand new Sky digital subscribers
Sky digital subscription required for Sky digital programming
Sky+ subscription required to use the Personal Video Recorder features
subscription is free while you subscribe to two or more Sky Premium channels (otherwise £10 a month).
so basically if you only subscribe to the £19.50 a month package your charged an extra £10 a month on top of that making it £29.50
Can anyone explain this though, i'm not sure i understand, I'm presuming it's referrering to the sky digital box
Free Sky box offer: You do not have to subscribe to Sky digital. You must enter into an Interactive Discount Contract (IDC). Offer limited to one per household. You are ineligible if you have entered into an IDC or your household has benefited from one. Sky selects your equipment.Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

I don't know if this has been posted on here before - I can't find it.
After reading another bargain forum thread, it seems a lot of people have been getting SKY+ recently for just £49 including free installation. It's kind of an unofficial deal. You get a refurbished SKY+ box but it's guaranteed for 12 months and you don't have to take multiroom. Again you have to pay the usual £10 monthly subscription.
I don't know if they are still doing this or not (they were last week) but you have to ring up SKY and ask for the cancellations department (only they can offer this deal). Tell them you are aware of the £49 refurb box offer and you are interseted in it. This often works, otherwise if they say there is no such offer say you want to cancel otherwise. You may have to start to go through the cancellation procedure but if they can offer the deal then they will usualy cave in at this point. Even if you do go through with the cancellation you have 2 weeks to change your mind anyway.
I rang up last week and was offered the deal but was hoping that the boxes would be refurbished V2 boxes - the guy said it could be any SKY+ box and I want the nice new style! I ended up getting a new SKY+ installation for £99 but had to have multiroom too. Was installed within 2 days though!
The £49 offer may still be available so give them a call, you've got nothing to lose.
I rang up on tueday and asked for the £49 sky + refurb. It was fitted this morning. I ask the engineer if he had done a lot of the refurb boxes. He was under the impression that I was a bt employer because this deal was origanally only offered to them. And was suprised when I told him about the site and how I got sky +. He thinks my box hasn't been used?. He was going to try and sell me a magic eye but relised I could probably find it cheaper through this site. He buys them for a fiver and fits them for sixty. I offered to buy one for £10 cos my husband can fit it but he wasn't biting. does anyone know where I can get one of these cheap.
My cousin phone to get the sky + refurb 10mins after me and they wouldn't offer it to him. I think a lot of it's to do with who u get on the line.
The lady I spoke to did say the offer was ending soon although she didn't know when.HOW MUCH ?0 -
how long is the contract for refurb sky+? (12 mnths?)
will it still work without paying £10 in future? (once contract over)
i only get family pack
i am confused by sky+0 -

if you get a premium package ie movie word + family at £35 a month you should'nt have to pay the £10 multi room.
I should think it won't work once your contract is over unless u subscribe again
If your paying wot £19 for the family package and £10 a month for multi room at £29. If you get sports world or movie word at £33 or £35 at least you get extra programes. I hope this makes sense it does in my head.HOW MUCH ?0 -

I got my magic eye from Argos for about £14.99. All you need is some cable (caiax i think its called) and a male/female connector. You basically connect one end of the wire to the output on the back of the box and the other to the magic eye. The eye then has a wire going into your other TV and its done - the tricky bit is getting it to your other tv through the floor or wall etc.
God £60 though to fit - im in the wrong business!0
