  • If you were making it obvious then no, they wouldn't allow it. Leave it a day or so, or go to different stores (if poss)

Luckily they have 3 stores in my town;)

Did this for my DS lite and worked a treat, had to ask for the voucher each time though:mad: Staff don't seem to want to automatically hand them out:rolleyes:
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

I have done this 4 or 5 times - bought a batch of gift cards (sometimes multiples in separate transactions but at the same time) then immediately used them for a purchase (or groups of purchases to maximise vouchers).

Last time was 2 lots of £100 giving me £20 in vouchers (£220 in total)

I bought my wii for £180 using the vouchers - got another £10

Bought a game, extra controller and charger for £60 - got another £5.

Don't tell them what you are doing - just do it and by the time they realise what is happening you will have made your purchase. All I have got is an "oh, I see what you are doing!".

    YMMV

  • Depending on the store this won't work - it is fiddling the system and Argos have a right to refuse the offer to anyone if they think they are trying to abuse the system.

Actually, it's not "fiddling their system" as the terms and conditions allow it. All it excludes is "using vouchers to buy vouchers" which presumably means you can't buy standard, long-shelf-life gift vouchers with the promotional ones that are only valid until February.

I actually think that if you bought £50 of gift vouchers, the staff were obliged to give you a £5 promotional voucher, because when I did so the assistant volunteered it without my having to ask. I also think they're supposed to volunteer it because it's an automatic thing on their tills - going by the fact that I had to sign for each voucher I got.

Presumably the signature is to stop staff from withholding vouchers from customers and taking them out of the tills for themselves each time someone spends £50 or more but fails to collect their voucher.

Of course, a shop doesn't have to sell you anything but it would be rather silly of Argos to turn your money down for the sake of the odd £5 voucher here and there (which of course isn't really worth £5, given the mark-up on their goods). A very small percentage of Argos customers will have even tried to use this loophole. Argos can moan all they like but their T&Cs allow it.

Actually it's not fiddling the system at all. I asked the SA if I could buy £100 worth of vouchers and claim the £10 free gift then use the £100 vouchers to buy something and claim another £10 free gift.

She said this was fine so I got the Nintendo deal that they were doing for £99 for £80.
  • so what happens if you were to but a £100 worth of itmes get the £10 voucher, return the items for a refund do you then get to keep the voucher? Whats stopping people doing this several times a day and keep getting £10 voucher for free.
