WHSmith clubcard finishing?!

The first I found about the cancellation of the Clubcard was when I presented mine a couple of weeks ago! I contacted customer service on their online form and after nearly a fortnight with no response sent an email at the weekend. Just received a reply advising "I'm sorry if you were not aware of this as our stores were instructed to display a notice at their tills." .
Same thing has happened to me in Belfast today (the only WHS store in N.Ireland, except for maybe the airport). I had my card for years and never once received a communication from them over all that time and I don't know how many points I had.
I had been in the store occasionally during 2007/8 and never once saw a notice about Clubcard being discontinued. I'm really angry.:mad:0
