WHSmith clubcard finishing?!

I gotta say that the WHS card is one of the worst loyalty cards EVER.
I never know that you had to use the points on the card within a certain amount of time until I was told one day that my card was refused - I had been collecting for over a year, so that part of the card usage was a-ok, but when it came to claiming those points back they said "no".
I called their head office & got them to re-instate the points so I could use them.
i was in there the other day & spent over a tenner on magazine, which I rarely do these days, and saw that my point total was about 60p. Hardly worth it IMO.No signature here. Move along please.0 -
I've had a clubcard for many years and only started redeeming the points this year but didn't have any issue over a timescale or not redeeming them earlier. But I did notice that you do also receive points on items over a pound you redeem points on. I know it's not much though when you got 1 point per whole pound spent and that point's only worth 1p.0

(One year after OP)
I was told today that the scheme is about to finish nationwide and points can be redeemed until Feb 090 -
OMG, I've not heard of this until now! I think I still have load of points coz I've never redeemed them before. I hope they will let me redeem it today.0

I've asked in both Bexhill and Eastbourne and the clubcard scheme's stopping in both towns.
You can spend until the end of Feb next year there, but you can't collect anymore points.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
I found out about this over the summer, but am very disappointed. I shopped there once a week. I've signed up (twice!) for the new club and have yet to receive any vouchers, etc.

Hello,
I realise that this is a VERY old thread, but my largest local WH Smiths in Gateshead and Newcastle Upon Tyne states that you can use your Clubcard points until sometime in February if anyone has their old Clubcards kicking about...
Hope that is helpful to some people and I am hoping to use some of mine on Friday, so I will repost if I have any success! :j
Best wishes,
MerriDebt as of 20th Aug 2009 -£6600 and falling :j0 -
The first I found about the cancellation of the Clubcard was when I presented mine a couple of weeks ago! I contacted customer service on their online form and after nearly a fortnight with no response sent an email at the weekend. Just received a reply advising "I'm sorry if you were not aware of this as our stores were instructed to display a notice at their tills."
Well I never saw anything about it - they were quick enough to contact me direct with details of their Clubcard offers but never a word about it ending. I can't remember how many points I had, probably not a great deal, but I still feel somewhat cheated. The email then goes on to say "if I can help further please don't hesitate to contact me." How? The only way I can think of is that they send a voucher for £10 as a gesture of goodwill, I can't see any other way they can help!
Oh well, no incentive to use WHS now.0
