Barclaycard/Monument Letter - Deceased Father

  • UPDATE:

Barclaycard said they sent out the indemnity form on 21 November. Come 10th December it still wasnt received so I called up again.

The woman re-issued the letter and it came through to me around 14th. She also said to save time, pop into a Barclays branch and show them the required ID and they can send it off for me.

So this is what I did - Barclays looked at me as if I had gone mad. However I explained my frustrations and they reluctantly sent off the certified death cert and my passport. The indemnity form did say however that it was to be filled out and stood for claims under £5000 so I'm not expecting the world.

I also, for double safety, sent the info off myself with the indemnity form so I knew they would 100% received what I was asked for.

Spoke with them today, 3rd Jan and my final response with a cheque will be sent out by 9th Jan. She mentioned that she didnt yet know the amount but that PBP was definitely paid and the refund would be coming back to me.

She also said that in December they had issues with their systems and therefore there could be a slight delay tagged onto the end of the final response time but that I can call up on Wednesday 9th and she will take me through high security to inform me what the calculations team have worked out is due back.

Although I've no idea what the amount is, I would urge anyone to claim back PPI/PBP if they know it was paid. Its not been the easiest process for sure, however if it means my sister and I get a little something back then its been worth it because its more than we had before.

Stick with the process and stay on top of Barclaycard. Get regular updates when you can and do not give up. The past 50 days have gone so fast, and its time that has passed anyway.

I will update once I get the letter next week. If its £5 I'm going wild and buying two euromillions tickets!

How did you get on with this? Interested to know the outcome. I’m just sending off a letter for myself.
