This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all back to being an early one for me . Ds has gone to work DH is stirring . I am off out with DD1 to do a bit of the dreaded xmas shopping not sure where we are going Bluewater or Lakeside both of which I refuse to go to between December and February as they are just a nightmare will check the Dartford Crossing in a bit to see which is the better option. Dinner tonight is Lasagne as I don't know when i will be home so the menfolk can just chuck it in the oven. Not much planned for the weekend as DH and both girls are off to the Rugby as they bought tickets for him for fathers day I shall probably wash the blinds I know I Know i shouldn't be spoiling myself :D
TA I hope you are ok and just having a bit of you time with your family
HH Hope CHS is behaving himself

  • Hi bellabella and all who will be here later.

I have been up and messing about for a couple of hours, slept ok but once I woke, that was it.

Washing the blinds bellabella, ooh luxury, you are SO self-indulgent. I did our bathroom ones the other week, they are not fun to do.

Plans today are the regular Friday Tidy, yet more washing, nothing very fascinating. I need to make a baby, bear which is promised, more fun than housework.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning everyone

bellabella - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark here, but doesn't feel too cold, although forecast is for colder weather next week.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was a frozen pork joint, mash, veg and gravy - what a disappointment, not great at all - no flavour, was small, fatty and gristle in it, so won't be buying again. Disappointed as it wasn't cheap and usually a more reliable SM. Tonight something easy and chips/jacket potato.

Yesterday wasn't overly productive as I spent all morning at the work training, that didn't finish until 12.30pm, then I had to travel back and went straight into town did what was needed there, then called in to MrL's en route home for a loaf of bread, 2 x persimmons, croissant and small baguette, so it was nearly 2pm before I got home and I hadn't had any lunch, I'd left some salad in the fridge so had that.

Today I'll be heading straight to the SM first thing, then home unpack shopping, do the ironing and continue with the washing, drying and ironing.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Thanks for the start bella, good luck with the shopping!

My friend is home from hospital, didn't go and see her last night, thought she could do without me wittering on. I'll go over tonight.

Found out through my cousin that my Aunt had fallen down the stairs last week, banged her head and broke her sternum, she's 82. She sounded fairly upbeat but I'm really angry at my other cousin (her daughter) who didn't let anyone know and apart from the initial 20 questions hasn't contacted her Mum since. I've sent her flowers and will have to try to go down there sometime soon.

PJ day at school today, I've got my dressing gown and a cow onesie to wear, should give the children a laugh and at least I'll be warm!

House a riot but I did wrap two enormous Christmas presents last night so that's something done.

Have a good day if you can, take care. XX

    Morning all

Did not get chance to post at all yesterday I overslept and only had time for a quick cup of tea before leaving.

Its still very mild here lovely for this tome of the year, I think I might do lasagne for dinner, with some salad and garlic bread.
Got to get through the manic Friday group first, must put wine in the fridge this morning !!

Lovely cleaner coming today so nothing to do tonight apart from some washing :j
I got a text message from the vicar asking me to contact him to get access to the church to take the photo for that lady I will ring him today, but its a shame it has to be kept locked, they were always open when I was a child.

Right best get on have good days all xx

    Morning :)

Great sleep last night ..8hrs and 3 mins according to my watch :j now thats a record. So cracked on a bit this morning wash on and I have been scrubbed :) Makes such a difference to wake up and not be tired. Need to do a white vinegar clean of the washing machine later it was a bit whiffy this morning.

Heard from Holly yesterday she has just been home and picked up the card from us all here and she was made up with it. She sends her love and really appreciates you all thinking about her. She had an appointment with both the surgeon and the oncologist yesterday and will now be starting her chemotherapy in a couple weeks once the meds are gone. After that she will have her surgery which is now going to be mastectomy unfortunately. Despite all this crappy news she is sounding strong and seems to be taking it in her stride. Hoping this continues when the meds are withdrawn.

Have decided on a day off today after cracking through all my work stuff yesterday. Working tonight but at least I can enjoy the day. I am out to lunch with a bestie today which I'm looking forward to. Other than that I think a Christmas movie might be on the books this afternoon :o

Had some of my 5 bean chilli last night for dinner and of course there is some left so may do some wraps for later. need to do a shop for delivery tomorrow as pretty much out of veg now.

Hope everyone has a good Friday

    Good morning everyone :hello:
I managed to have a wash and change my clothes this morning so I feel a bit more socially acceptable. My grandchildren will be here in a minute and I didn't want to scare them. Steve has gone to work but will be working later today to earn some more money for Christmas. The rest of the kids are all still asleep although the grandchildren will wake them up in a minute.

My friend came round to see me yesterday which cheered me up as she is lovely. I think she frightened the architects though as she is a properly loud and funny lady. I was so happy to see her.

I have shopping being delivered this afternoon and we will be having burgers for tea (providing they get delivered) I am very glad to not have to think about sorting out dinners for the next couple of days as Steve takes over the kitchen on the weekend.

Well the grandchildren have arrived now so I will be off. Thank you for your kindness and support. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Good morning all. 10 degrees, damp and foggy here.

Bella, washing the blinds, I wish I could do fun things like that!

Camelot, your cow onesie sounds good, it'll be funny to see everyone in nightwear. Are you driving to work in it? Sorry about your aunt.

I'm back to using my ailing laptop, DH has done things to it. He doesn't think it will last long though. We'll see.

I went into Newcastle yesterday with my friend, it was busy as usual. Didn't buy much, as I didn't want to drag her round too many shops, but we both got things we wanted, and had a cheap and cheerful McDonalds lunch which was tasty.

We had a good natter as well, so a good day was had by us both.

I'll go on my own next week, either Newcastle or Metrocentre, for serious shopping. They are both within easy reach, but i do like the Metro in the winter, as you're out of the weather.

Someone is coming to measure for a blind for the bathroom today. We've always bought ready made and Dh has fitted it himself, but we couldn't get a ready made in the colour we wanted, so they will measure and fit, Saves DH a job.

There's a bit of shopping to do, and a book to take back to library, and the usual housework.

Going to a friends tonight Friday again, the days do slip away.

That's it really. Hope everyone has an ok day. Thinking of Poppy, TA, Dumpling, and anyone else who is struggling with life.

    Take care folks
  • Good morning everyone, glad to say photobook finished and so back to normal life today! It should arrive by 29 Nov, plenty of time to post it overseas.

Today I'm at the sewing group with my knitting, as I'm now pressing on with the blanket for the imminent baby. The everlasting tapestry is on hold yet again!

I didn't eat out last night after all, I did a quick shop with my frugal hat on, and had cold chicken and salad when I came home. Tonight I'll use the remaining chicken in a stir fry.

I hope you enjoyed the football, Speky. It's really nice that your colleague is being so welcoming.

Special thoughts for the poorlies and for TA and family.

I hope you all have the best day possible. xxx
