Pete99, I said it's ONLY the tariff that's fixed. The monthly direct debit is still flexible whether it's a fixed or variable tariff. At least it's been that way with all the suppliers I've used until OTM.

Sure, not being able to leave a fixed tariff if if the customer service is bad is a drawback, but they're the cheapest deals right now and variable tariff prices are probably only going to go up. Also, if you do have a credit balance it's protected by Ofgem anyway.

I'm with you on not building up a large credit balance, but I can understand how many people like to simply pay the same all year round. Though anyone who's been with OTM will certainly be watching their balance more carefully in the future.

    to me

    Dear Mr MadMat

    Hope you are well.

Following the revised figures, we have adjusted your account compared to your actual consumption and adjusted some payments accordingly as follows:
    Winter Direct Debit£191.95

    Summer Direct Debit £82.27

We will re evaluate the amounts in the following months is your consumption does not reach this amount.

However, as we have processed slight adjustments to the Direct Debit method, we have waived all exit fees for our fixed customers therefore there will not be any exit fees applied to your account.

I thought I'd see what happens when I got a new quote on the site. They offered two tariffs, one which you pay in advance for the first 6 months which works out about the same as my current EAC (without the increases in December and January) and the other seems to be similar prices to my last e-mail pre January price increase. I guess that people might sign up to either of those then be hit with the increase straight after as both quoted tariffs used the membership system instead of the new standing charges they're bringing in. Unfortunately from January Outfox the Customer won't be my cheapest option anymore so I'm making a move before that increase.
  • had a couple snide replies on here...till they realised the depth of the problem...long standing posters as well eh?...both pretty complient now....lol...dont take advice from here...go on other web sites ...go compare moneysupermarket etc...
  • I Joined OFTM around the 1st May and have seen price rises in July, November then on the 13th December and now the 1st January along with my direct debit going up from £100 to £175 a month. Once I got news of the variable DD I began the switch which I started on the 28th November.

I am around £350 in credit with them and my next DD is due in 7 days time but all efforts to contact them have failed. I have phoned them and spoke to a call centre who said they would refund my credit which hasn't happened, the web chat is turned off and 2 e-mails have gone unanswered so enough is enough for me, they aren't getting any more money and I have cancelled the DD due in 7 days.

I have more than enough credit to last me until I get away from them but my worry is any credit left over I am going to have a tough job to get back off them.

I move on the 14th to Bulb, no way in hell I will give the cheapest supplier my custom after this, Bulb are not the cheapest but at least they seem more trustworthy than OFTM. They don't know what they are doing most of the time so download every bill and go to Your Energy Usage and put the mouse pointer over each month for gas and electric so it shows the usage of each reading and take a screen grab and keep them for at least 13 months as after 12 months any usage they claim has just been found that they try and claim is an error to get extra money they cannot claim and it would be just like OFTM not to have signed up to it

Someone please tell me what money is

This is a classic example of jumping suppliers too quickly. I regret leaving my previous supplier which was AVRO. Within weeks of joining Outfox the Market my DD was lifted to £143.43 even though my usage was circa a little below £90 with credit built up too.

So check customer service of your new supplier thoroughly...are there phone lines not just web chat & when open, as some companies close down at weekend.

Yes, companies are under pressure from higher wholesale prices and the dreadful Brexit falling pound pushing up all import prices but the government needs to do due diligence with these companies and not let anyone set up an energy company on the cheap.
  • Love the Douglas Adams quote, I bet it was wasted on them 😂😂
  • Worryingly or not i;ve just had my email to OTM returned undelivered!

Your message wasn't delivered. Despite repeated attempts to deliver your message, the recipient's email system refused to accept a connection from your email system.

Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that their email system is refusing connections from your email server. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem.

In other news ive gone back to Green Network. When I left these i was actually £200 in credit. Put in my expected usage per month which result in a £60 DD for £720 per year, cheaper than the £900+ estimated with OTM.

The email I received from them yesterday was the last straw. I've switched to one of the big 6 with £100 from TopCash Back :)
