When you say you had the gas turned of, turned off from where? There is as good a chance as any that someone has just capped the meter.
Who did you get to turn it off?0 -

Who did you get to turn it off?
It was British Gas. They took the meter away. Apparently, we'd have had to keep on paying the standing charge otherwise. I was a bit surprised by that, because I remember that years ago (admittedly, twenty-seven), in my grandparents' house, they turned off the gas supply but left the meter in place.Selling up and moving to the seasaw. One positive bit of news today. The gas supply had a health check this morning to see if it's live or dead, and it's live and suitable for use. So, no digging up roads or anything like that.Selling up and moving to the seasaw. Mortgage-free by 20200

So if there is no gas supply, presumably there is no heating in the property either then?
Would that not cause it to deteriorate over time?0 -
As it's a flat it may have occupied flats below/beside and that wouldprevent the worst of cold/damp from builing up. If it's ground floor flat with external walls, then not so much!
Yeah you can do anything on the internet these days sally!0 -

No gas heating, but we've still got electric. We go back very regularly to check on the place too. It's above another flat, and it's never been a cold place (very thick walls too).
It's been a good flat actually. Always a very comfortable place.Selling up and moving to the seasaw. Mortgage-free by 20200 -
