Landlord wants to move back in to property

My landlord (a family member) has just informed us that he wants to move back into the property.
We have no tenancy agreement and need to know our rights? We have rented this property for over 7 years. Local council say we have to legally have 2 months notice (but we have only been given 1 month).
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Elaine

Local authority is right, simplistically.
What is the ultimate goal? Social housing, or new private rental?0 -

Did your family member give you mates rates?
Can you move within a month?
We got given a month's notice, but as we'd had mates rates and it took us 2 days to find another place we just got on with it.
Family relationships are difficult. I'm estranged from my mother, some family members are fine with that, some can't handle it.
What's the downside of relationship breakdown with this person?0 -

Assuming this is England or Wales read the sticky at the top of the board. In it there is a section about how an AST can be ended.0 -

We don't really seem to have a choice but to move within the month? And no realistically I can't find somewhere and move with 3 kids in a month.0 -

We are having to consider both, though private renting want big deposits and council wont consider helping they just saying he is illegally evicting us as he hasn't given us 2 months?0
