This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning Chums
Early one for me again still dark doesn't seem too cold and no rain:D
Someone left the heating on last night so i was sweltering and woke up extra early its now off and much more comfortable . DS has gone to work last night went ok but we will see what happens they keep moving the goal posts he took a year off from the TA to sort his business out and go travelling and now wants to return so they say shave your beard off ok he says then they start quizzing him about his work and as he has a close protection licence they say oh no the army doesn't like that job now due to the bad press they have been getting. He works agency work in the winter as there is not so much work around but still does weekends on the door so if that is a no for keeping his job he will leave the TA sad but he feels he has no choice.
I had a cleaning company round yesterday to quote for a pre xmas clean the quote came in at over £300 needless to say i won't be taking them up on their offer ,I shall start top to toe cleaning a room a week for free myself . ironing for me today my least favourite job
Dinner tonight chicken curry

Morning All
Raining again, will it ever end?
Great news for you and your DM maddiemay.
You sound to be upbeat taff, keep going.
Good to hear from you Specky, only a few days until you get into your new flat, hang in there!
How are you Gers?
Felt a little more lively yesterday when I got home but still didn't do much, I have christmas pressies to wrap, really should do them to get them out of the way.
I'm taking my friend to hospital early this morning, she's having an op to remove her gall bladder. Her DH will pick her up later.
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning
Up early for travels again this morning. Off to the lakes for a half day course. Its a long way to go for a 3hr session but it may lead to some more work if I play my cards right.
Mums 88th birthday today so depending on what time I'm finished I may try to drop in on the way back. We had a birthday lunch yesterday which went remarkably well so maybe age is softening her She did worry me though ...I showed her a picture that had popped up on my FB timeline of dad holding a birthday card for her. Now granted the card was covering him a bit but her comment was ...oh yes I think I know the face yes mum you were married for 62 years I'm storing these up for now till I really do need to take action which is not yet but I just wish she would visit the doctor but I'm afraid no amount of tricks or deception will get her there
I have half my pizza from yesterday for tonight and lunch provided so no need to think about food.
Right Im off to work have a good day all0 -
Morning everyone
bellabella - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was chicken in sauce, LO mash, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO yorkshires, LO carrots, LO swede (me only), and peas. All LO's used up and nothing thrown away, tonight we'll be having gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and peas/veg.
Work yesterday wasn't too bad, again had times where we were very busy and then times we were dead, telephones were the same, we'll see what today brings, last day at work for a week as I have annual leave next week and I'm not working this Saturday or next.
I put on half a pound at fat club, I'm not surprised, think I'm probably lucky to get away with just half a pound, now need to get my head in the game and go for it to reach target before xmas.
Keep safe and well x

Many blessings all.
:rotfl::rotfl: not crass at all ...made me laugh
Hope Blackun has a better day poor girl. least she has you spoiling her0 -
Good morning everyone, it's quite mild here, 12C just now, it's to be the same overnight and up to 14C during the day. My friend's hanging baskets have started blooming again, at least the surfinias have.
Maddiemay that's excellent news about your mother's place. It's such a relief when a plan moves forward.
When I got in from yoga last night I did three hours on the photobook. I'm out this morning (Reiki swap) then will crack on with it, I would really like to have it finished by the end of tomorrow. The photos were all scanned in so it's simply dragging, resizing and adding embellishments and comments. It's lovely to have a trip down memory laneand remember what a cutie she was! Then she became [STRIKE]abducted by aliens[/STRIKE] a teenager...
I hope you have the best day possible. xxx0 -
Morning all, I have slept better and got up at 6, major lie in for me. I have fed my chaps with bacon sandwiches and they have left for a trip.
I have the day to myself and must attack K2 the ironing mountain, do some more washing and so forth. I am going to La Traviata tonight with friends, it is the Welsh National Opera. Am looking forward to this.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible. OL, hope Blackun picks up a bit.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
Quite mild here again today and meant to be nice all day, I think next week we are due a cold spell.
Off to work for me but dinner is in the sc, a beef casserole and OH has instructions to buy a French loaf for dunkingso that's a nice easy dinner.
I need to order one more birthday present tonight and some cards and then I will just need stocking fillers for my dd and I am done, must start to wrap soon.
Hester I hope CHS starts to improve that cant be easy on a boat xx
TA hope you are ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning, everybody :hello: - we've had a wet night - lots of damp looking pavement out there at the moment. Forecast is for dry, cloudy and breezy with 14C, so not too cold
.
bellabella - thanks for starting today's thread for us. Sorry to hear about your OH's dilemma regarding his job/TA work - but when 'paying work' has to come first, then it's needs must. Good luck with your 'house clean' :T.
camelot - oooh christmas wrapping already :xmassmile.
Nelski - hope the M6 is kind to you today with no traffic jams. Sorry to hear about your DM - good idea to write down the dates and occasions when Mum shows worrying signs. I'm sure that the GP would at least listen to your concerns about her and possibly arrange for an 'annual visit/health MOT'. Good Luck with that situation.
nmlc - sorry to hear about your 'half pound' last night ............. deep breath and back into the routine with a vengeance :j.
Organza_Lace - well done on 'biting the bullet' with Prodigal. Not a nice conversation to have to have with him - but he's brought it on himself. 'Home comforts' don't just arrive in your home without being paid for - so those who use them, need to contribute. Either in cash or 'work effort'. Hope Blackun continues to improve and gets back to being herself.
WeeMidgie - your Memory Book sounds lovely! lol at her becoming 'a teenager' - like a 'female Kevin' from Harry Enfield
! No worries - she'll come out the 'other end' of her teens eventually. I see my DGD1 now and she's such a joy to have around and I'm so proud to go out with her when she's home from Uni. Will certainly miss her, as it looks as though she's going to settle down in Leeds eventually
.
ancientofdays - enjoy your evening at the Opera - La Traviata sounds great!
redruby - enjoy your day in work and your Beef Casserole - sounds .
Thinking about TA, Holly and Polly - hope you're all doing OK.
Off to DD's a bit later for 'Nathan-sitting' today - let's see what 'life surprises' he can throw at me today! Will take something with me to DD's for my evening meal - I defrosted a Paella yesterday but then put it back into the fridge - so that will do for this evening.
Also got Bible Study with some friends at Church this evening, so will go straight there from DD's - no point in coming back home to get warm and then having to go back out into the cold, dark evening again.
Have a good day everybody and take care ((((HUGS)))) for all who need them - luv Ollie xxx0 -
Good morning, looks damp and dreary out there.
Yesterday was nice, sunny and breezy.
OL, sorry to hear about Blackun, it's heartbreaking when animals are nearing the end. After over 40 years of having a cat/cats, then DD's dog, we didn't get any more, for various reasons.
The sadness when they are old and ill, and the vet's bills, now we are retired. Sounds mercenary, but you've got to be realistic.
If she's eating though, that's a good sign.
Speky, you seem to be doing well, so pleased for you. Hope you manage to keep posting.
Nelski, my Dad became confused, and sometimes called me by my Mum's name. Difficult isn't it.
I haven't read back properly , just skimmed. Hope everyone is all right.
Thinking of Gers and her Mum. and Hester's Dh, and anyone else who is struggling with life.
Take care folks0
