I suspect that it may be new meter (or meters) is not Smart but needs manual readings - could you read the meter please ?
They read the meter remotely. We don't have a guy coming around to read it anymore, like we used to before this meter was installed.

It's a blank LED screen with an electronic keypad and flashing lights (a bit like the dashboard of Concorde) but with no instructions.

Terrified I might press the wrong sequence of buttons.

Could your ring Jersey Electric and ask them which buttons you need to press
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

It is a smart meter. A Liberty 115.

I looked on YouTube and was told to press the number 9.

When I did, it went through about a dozen different number sequences. I assume the one you were interested in is the one which says "Using Now" - which it says is 6645.

If you need any others, please let me know. Thanks.

You need to read the three cumulative registers:

    IMP RATE 01

    IMP RATE 02

    IMP RATE 03

as shown at the bottom here for E20+ customers:

    I will get those.

More importantly... How do you put an image in a post, please?

According to Jersey Electric website you can have a "Smart account" where you can view your electricity profile half hourly data. That should be enough to understand what is contributing to your consumption, and track reductions as and when they occur. Worth exploring I suggest.
  • Just read the meter again but, before that, I received my latest bill by email:

    09/08/18 to 09/11/18:

    Service Charge £ 17.57

    General power & lighting units: 1400 - £ 207.20

    E20 Units: 1058 - £ 110.03

    E20 Plus Units: 56 - £ 8.29

    TOTAL: 2514 - £ 343.09

    My reading just now:

    IMP RATE 01 - 150238

    IMP RATE 02 - 175345

    IMP RATE 03 - 13666

    Thanks

I'll look into that and see what's involved.

Could be extremely useful, as you say.

Just checking but I think you have included the number after the decimal point

    IMP RATE 01 - 150238 should be 15023

    IMP RATE 02 - 175345 should be 17534

    IMP RATE 03 - 13666 should be 1366

The Liberty meter is most unfriendly !
