Does my bill look big in this?

You have 3 totals for electricity units on each bill. There should be 3 readings that you can take on your meter which match these. If you take a monthly reading you will get 3 totals (in kWh) each month.
The E20 and E20+ units are the energy used by your heating and hot water system. You pay more to use it between 1pm-3pm and 5pm-7pm than at other times a day.
All your other electricity is charged at the higher rate regardless of the time of day. Appliances which heat / cool or which are on continuously tend to use the most. Perhaps taking a reading at the same time each day for a week would help match when and what you are using your energy on.
  • Never compare your consumption to your friends.
For a start, you will all have different appliances which are used at different times of the day. Your lifestyles will also be different.
If you want cheaper bills, use less electricity.

    Thanks for that.

It surely deserves a nomination for "Helpful Advice of the Year Award".

That could be part of the problem. Your charges are based on clock time not the programmer. Also check what happens when clocks go back etc.

So that means I could be being charged for up to roughly 20 hours per month at the highest rate, for water (my heating has no set off and on times as I asked them not to programme that part). I wonder what that might be costing me each month.

I don't think the programmer time is that significant. If you used all of your peak hours energy at the cheaper rate you would only save £22 pa. The summer use of 49kWh over 3 months is only 10 - 15 minutes a day of an immersion heater. (However I would get the timer and settings adjusted).
£932 pa on general power and lighting would be where I would try and look for savings.

Yes, I do see your point.

    Address the big stuff, first.

Am still wondering how though, given we are really quite ultra frugal in our usage, as it is. Such is subjective, of course.

Just a quick question JibTeenuc - the consumption figures you've quoted - are they all actual and not estimated ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Actual (I assume) from the new smart-meter they installed just over a year ago.

They are the ones on my bills anyway (and no mention of the word "estimate" anywhere).

A question for the tariff experts - is Economy 20+ a supported tariff on smart meters - or is it one that needs manual readings ?

If this helps, as Neil Jones posted:

We have two choices for our electricity supplier, over here.

Take it or leave it (as we only have one electricity provider).

I suspect that it may be new meter (or meters) is not Smart but needs manual readings - could you read the meter please ?
