Vodafone 1 month contracts
Ordered a new phone on a 1 month contract from Carphone Warehouse with a Vodafone 1 month contract SIM.
I want the phone only, and so won't continue with the contract beyond its first month.
My question here is:
1. Do I notify Carphone that I want it to end after the first month, or do I contact Vodafone direct?
2. At what point to I need to be cancelling it to ensure that it doesn't run into a second month?
3. I plan to collect it from Carphone Warehouse store. So, when will the SIM be regarded as becoming activated?
Thanks folks.

1. Vodafone only
2. The sooner the better. It's a 30 days notice.
3. I think it can be the dispatch day, but, possibly, they do everything in the store. Not a big difference really.0 -

Right. If I got this a day wrong, then I might be forced to have the contract for 60 days, or might it only have to run for say 32 days?0 -
If you want the phone only why did you get a contract as well?0

I got the 30 day, note 30 day contract, because the handset in combination with the 30 day contract is at an attractive price.
So, here I'm trying to ascertain if I give notice to quit on day one, would I be out of the contract on day 30. Or perhaps day 31 or day 32, or might I be subject to 60 days worth?0 -
Strange to get a phone with a one month contract. Are you sure, unless it's a cheap phone on PAYG?0

It is a one month contract, Not PAYG. To be clear, it is Vodafone's £13 Essentials plan (30 days) with 500 minutes, 500mb of data and unlimited texts.

I did this last month as there was a good price on a handset if bought with a SIM only deal and my mum needs a new phone so ordered it.
I then phoned Vodafone the day after delivery and cancelled it within my cooling off period as found out she doesn't want to go on Vodafone. It was cancelled no problem.
They did, however, take £13 out of my bank account but I got back in touch with them and had that refunded (well less a few pence for the 1 day I had the phone and the call to Vodafone I made)0 -

Excellent. That's what I was looking to hear! And indeed, what I was hoping to hear.
So ingeniously you used the cooling off period, rather than the standard 30 day cancellation notice. That's even better, as like your mum wanted, it is the phone I want, not the 30 contract that comes with it.
So I take it that your offer was to buy the phone from someone other than Vodafone, but that the SIM was a Vodafone one?0 -

Yes- I got the deal from HKUD

Phone was from CPW, SIM from Vodafone. Mum has been wanting a smartphone for a while and that is good entry level one but didn't know she didn't want to be on Vodafone and as I say cancelled no problem. Just needed to follow up on getting charged for it being cancelled and that was refunded no problem but on live chatting with Vodafone it looked like it would have been refunded anyway without me chasing next month when they adjusted my bill0 -

Yes, what you did is what I'm wanting to emulate. So I'm pleased to learn of your experience and that it is doable.
I did this last year with an Alcatel offering at CPW, but I can't remember how I did it. I think it was an EE SIM for that offer. Anyway it all went well.0
