Broadband without the contract

Hi All,
We used to have Broadband with SKY, but moved into temporary accomodation with my mum since we sold our house. SKY have terminated our contract which was only half way through and we are looking to get a broadband supplier. The problems are that we will hopefully move house soon (once the one we have bid for becomes available) so dont want to get into another 12 month contract.
The other problem is that my mum does not have a BT line but rather Virgin/Telewest. i have spoken to BT and they said it will cost £150 to reconnect the line!
As we are only going to be there short term (hopefully) i dont really want to spend too much. Virgin said i can go to a £30 a month tariff, but that would be for 12 months.
Does anyone have any ideas what i could do? i have all the equipment from Sky left over as well.
Thanks
