Claiming against restaurant for overcharging?

What do you call small change?0

Meh, I think you're barking mad but I'll give you the proper response...
You are more than entitled to take the company to small claims court. You can use this link: https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money
It may cost you around £25, which I believe you can get claim back if you win.
You'll need to evidence your actual losses; you sound like you may have sufficient evidence to show you are owed this "loose change" (whether the court laughs at your case or not is debatable). Additionally, you MAY have some case for further losses but that's where it gets tricky to prove and, even if you can, it won't be worth much. You'd be wise to gather any such evidence and maybe professional advice.
Aside from that, you are pretty much relying on any possible goodwill that the company offers you.
And, if you want someone to crunch the numbers, I'll be happy to work out what % chance you'd need to win in order to make a £25 investment to potentially win £25+X (where X=the money you are owed, you'll have to define that value though) a reasonable risk.
They might not be able to sue due to De Minimis rules. Whilst there is nothing concrete a court is entitled to reject claims it considers frivolous.
Less than £10 may well meet that criteria. This is only added for the sake of roundness though.0 -

I'm familiar with Facebook though not Instagram or Twitter. I know what they are I just don't have accounts for them at the moment. You'll need to evidence your actual losses; you sound like you may have sufficient evidence to show you are owed this "loose change" (whether the court laughs at your case or not is debatable). Why are you not telling us the amount you were overcharged despite me and others askingThrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Twitter is easy to use.
Create an account, search for the chain and post a simple message directed at the chain, on the phone app theres whats like a feather with a plus signtap that to writr your message to the chain. Theres bound to be videos on youtube on how to use twitter.0 -
Personally, for small change, I think life's too short but we all come at things from different perspectives.
You could do a couple of other things. Write a TripAdvisor review and send a LBA threatening legal action. That might trigger a response even if small claims isn't actually viable. You'd have to do that anyway if you are considering legal action.0 -
Either sort it out saying you were overcharged by x and they ignored you, and leave a snotty review on tripadviser.
What's holding you back?0 -
I'm not really in to that emotional distress claiming lark. I just want to make the point that they can't (or shouldn't be able to) do whatever they want. If they'd have handled it via email like they said they were going to and done something like here's a free meal or a 50% off with a good expiry date on the offer or even just an apology then it'd be something, but they're just giving it the big fob off. No way at all do i believe it takes more than 4 weeks to resolve this. What are they doing? DNA testing the table i was sat at to see if i was really there? But yes i do have actual evidence that there were losses, although small. Receipt and emailed price list for the restaurant in question should be enough for that.
Meh, listen I can't be bothered having a morality discussion here. I've given you the MCOL (small claims court) link, and others have provided some fairly useful input too (waamo makes a good point). Either get your MCOL claim in, or keep working on them for a gesture of goodwill. OR just give up on it completely.
Though, in fairness, I agree with the fact that you probably should have been given a gesture of goodwill. But welcome to life.0 -

It took until your post in post 5 to get close to an answer. While it wasn't about courts it was still helpful, hence the thanks. It was post 10 before we even started talking about courts. The rest are just saying it's ridiculous, knock it on the head, give it up, it's not worth it (to them) and that's without me giving the amount. Can you imagine these people if i did? We'd probably get 2 pages of nothing before we got the next post talking about what the thread was created for.
If there was a minimum amount you can claim for then i'm sure someone would've mentioned it by now. As they haven't i can only guess there isn't? Which to me means they're only asking the amount to jeer a little longer. I know that this post will encourage them more but still, as you actually helped, that's why.0 -
Post 15 was the last post on the thread as i was typing out my previous reply. A flurry of positive replies came in in the meantime so i've hit the thanks button.0
