@John Gray in post #6 has given you the easiest option to clean up, start Disk Cleanup, click OK for drive C:\ and then click on 'Clean up system files' and OK on the C:\ drive again.
Make sure that the first 7 boxes are checked and the last 2 and click OK.0 -

Which doesn't answer the question I asked, which was ... Does Windows Reporting (i.e. the alert about low disk space) use Actual Amount Remaining or Actual Percentage Remaining to drive the alert?
