Delete previous version of windows?

Options
I keep getting notifications my computers running low on storage space to do this with the caveat"Warning: you won't be able to go back to it". I don'tsee how i'm short on storage space as I have 1.6 TB free nor do I think I had a 'previous' version of windows, I thought I had windows 10 when i got my laptop about 2 yrs ago. Is it advisable to follow this delete option / why am I getting it?

I am using less than 300 GB and have 1.6 TB free, how can I be out of space? I'm now not sure if I had windows 7 when I got this but I thought old windows got automatically deleted after 28 days so not sure why I have gor a windows.old file

Every time windows does a 6 month update it is a whole new version ergo it saves you an .old version. Is your disk partitioned? i.e. a C: + D: drives

In the 'Cortana' search box type Disk Cleanup, and go through the process.
Afterwards, run Treesize Free to show which folders are using the most space. (Or do it before running Disk Cleanup!)

The Disk clean-up utility will let you delete the windows.old folder and other useless stuff easily.

The error message you are getting could be referring to the Recovery partition which, normally, has close to zero free space. Sometimes, after upgrades, that Recovery partition gets 'monitored' by Windows.

it's not an error message, it's a notification that i'm running out of storage space. Sorry but no idea what recovery petition means!

What drive letters do you have? You will have a C drive but do you have any others?
